    Hi!

    Unfortunately, the age criteria matters to sit for IAS exam.

    The eligibility criteria in regards of age is as follows:

    21-30 years

    No. Of Attempts:

    Four (Seven attemps of OBCs and no limit for SCs/STs)

    Yes, Definitely It's a Barricade(Over age)!!!! Because, You will have less chance to crack a good rank in CIVILS in order to get IAS. But if you are really have good knowledge in current affairs and if you are already an aspirant who learned a lot from previous sessions - then it wont be any problem for you to crack in IAS.

    So, I would suggest you that don't worry about your over age now, Just concentrate on your preparation!!!! If you really deserve it, Then no matter the competition is - You will surely reach your target!!!! All the best..

    I will tell you now the details of IAS and also the age relaxation..

    >>IAS will be of 3phases::
    -Civil Service Aptitude Test(CSAT)
    -Mains
    -Interview.

    Eligibility criteria for IAS::

    # You must be a citizen of India.
    # You must complete your Graduation Degree(No restriction in Min.Percent)
    # Number of attempts::
    - General candidates: four attempts.
    - Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates: No restriction.
    - Other Backward Classes: seven attempts.
    # Fee::Rs. 100/-
    (No fee for SCs/STs/Physically disabled)

    Age limits for IAS:

    You must have attained 21 years and not be over 30 years on August 1 of the year of examination.
    The upper age limit is relaxed in specific cases as mentioned below:
    upto a maximum of 5 years if you belong to SC/ST.
    upto a maximum of 3 years if you belong to Other Backward Classes(BC's)


    ->Preliminary Examination would consist of two papers- Paper I and Paper II.
    Syllabus for CSAT as proposed by UPSC
    (Paper 1) (200 marks) - Duration : Two hrs
    ->(Paper II) (200 marks) Duration : Two hrs
    ->The final interview is of 300 marks.


    Dates to Remember::

    Notification will be Published on: 04th Feb'2012

    Last Date for Submission of Application is on:05th March'2012

    Preliminary exam will be on 20th May'2012

    YES over age criteria will be a Hurdle for IAS examinations.

    Indian Civil Services which is the main governing body of Indian Government recruits young and courageous aspirants to any of its 3 wings of Civil services namely

    1. All India Services
    2. Central Services
    3. State Services

    UPSC ( Union Public Service Commission ) conducts the common entrance exam All India wide for the entry into Civil services the examination is conducted every year with 3 rounds

    1. Prelims ( held in May )
    2. Main ( held in October / November )
    3. Interview ( held in March / April )

    IAS ( Indian Administrative Service ) is one of the prestigious post of All India Services and controlled by Ministry of Home Affairs.

    Eligibility :

    Educational Qualification :

    you must be a Degree holder from any recognized university or its affiliated college or from a Deemed university.

    Age Criteria :

    you must have minimum of 21 years and maximum of 30 years of age , Upper age relaxation is accepted if you belong to any of the special categories like

    - SC / ST - 5 years.
    - Other BC - 3 years.
    - State of Jammu & Kashmir - 5 years.
    - Defense personnel - 5 years.

    Yes... over age is a barricade to write a IAS exam
    Your age should be in between of 21 and 30(relaxation as per rules... SC/ST 5 years... OBC 3 years etc)..
    moreover you can write this exam only four times if you from general category(Seven attemps of OBCs and no limit for SCs/STs)....

    IAS stands for Indian Administrative Service.UPSc will hold the IAS exam every year.

    Eligibility for IAS:

    Nationality:Indian.

    Educational qualification:You have to pass your graduation in any recognized university.

    Age limit:Your age should in between 21-30 years.Upper age limit will be applicable for ST/Sc/OBC candidates.

    Number of attempts:

    4 for General category
    7 for OBC candidates.
    No limit for SC/ST candidates.

    If you fulfill those qualifications you are eligible for IAS.
    So after completion of 30 Years you are not eligible for IAS.

    Yes, over age is barricade to appear in the IAS entrance examination. IAS examination is one of the civil services examination which is conducted once in every year by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). To appear in the IAS examination a candidates need the following eligibility criteria.

    Educational Qualification : Graduation degree in any stream from a recognize University. The final year graduation candidate can also apply for the IAS examination.

    Age Limit : The age must be between 21 to 30 years. The age relaxation is applicable for the reservation category candidates.
