Options available after M.Sc in Chemistry

I have completed my B.Sc. with Chemistry Hons. After that I have completed my B.Ed course and now I am continuing my M.Sc. in Chemistry. Apart from taking Teaching profession as my career, is there any other option for me to opt? What should I do?

Re: Options available after M.Sc in Chemistry

Teaching is just one of the options available for you. There are quite a few other options available. Like if you would like to go in to the research field you can choose amongst the options. You can choose to work in any laboratory or any pharmaceutical company. You can also work as a lab technician too. If you would like to continue further studies then you can take up PH.d too. If you would like to take a deviation then you can go in for MBA course. Through this you can either join any of the firms in the chemical industry side in the administrative side. On completion of MBA you will have options like taking up Marketing oriented jobs, Finance oriented jobs etc. Basically you have to decide which of these roles suits you.

So many options in diverse streams are prevailing for postgraduates in Chemistry. As you are pursuing your M.Sc. Chemistry, better complete the course with good percentage. After completing the same, you can apply for vacancies in Government sector or in private companies. Maintaining a daily routine of reading employment newspapers for knowing about the vacancies in public sector will be useful. You can apply for technical as well as non-technical jobs. In the technical side, you can work as a Chemist in Chemical industry or laboratories. Other wise, you can work as Software testers, Content Associates, Technical writers, Consultants, and so on. You can also work as a Call center Executive in international call centers.

There are many companies in Benguluru which have quality control and quality assurance departments. Some of them are Benguluru Geni, Bayer India, Biocon India, Biogen, Ostrageneca, Advanta India, Micro Labs, and others. Appearing for CSIR –UGC CET will be better in case the candidate wants to go for PhD. One can also join the institutes which offer admission under sponsored category for those who work in companies. Some institutes provide opportunity to do PhD for those who have experience of working in famous research institutes.

You can work with Forensic Department of the Police or CBI. There are different types of careers available, including those in other fields of forensic science, academics, or administration. YOU can also move up within a particular organization, changing responsibilities along the way. For example, the director of a crime lab may supervise other forensic scientists rather than being involved in day-to-day analysis. A director may also be responsible for case review and general lab management. Some forensic chemists also use their technical training to pursue a career in patent law.

Greater interest in the use of DNA analysis is expected to create more jobs.

yes, you do have other options to opt. You can search for the jobs in pharmaceutical companies. These companies are related with chemicals and medicines, so being a chemistry expert you can join these companies where you can get handsome salary. Or you can opt for MBA program, because these pharmaceutical companies search for a candidate having both science and management knowledge. so if you want to earn much then these companies can be a best choice for you. Apart from that you can work in a laboratory, or enter into a research work after doing phd. But i will advice you to go for MBA if dream to at higher positions in your life.

i would personally advice you that if u are from a not very good economic background then u should start teaching other the best options availiable are to go for p.hd because u have done a great effot to complete your masters degree and now u are just a step away to get a doctor's degree so better go for p.hd even if u belong to a poor background then start p.hd as a part time and if u belong to a better background then u can go for G.R.E and then acquire degree of MS

You can do Phd research work. There are lot of chemical companies in our country especially in Gujrat. You can get a good paying job as you are highly qualified.
And lecturership is also a good option if you want to impart your knowledge to the young generation of India.

as per your qualification, Teaching is the best, as you have also appeared for B.Ed an taking up Doctorate will add to it, but as you are in search of something other than teaching, you can pursue you career as assistant product manager approaching some food, drug, beverage companies. you can also apply to become a quality inspector or a lab chemist. or can move towards becoming a senior research scientist.

    Hi Dear,
With the qualification of Msc Chemistry You have the Future path like this. First of all you decide that you wheather u wanna go for still higher qualification or u wanna work. If you opt for the first option higher qualification i.e, PhD. Then if in INDIA then u need to appear for CSIR exam get cleared to get fundings for entire 5 yrs . Once u are done with the CSIR then u need to search for a guide and get registered from JNTU / IICT/OU/ KU or any organizations . If u wanna do ure PhD abroad Then for USA u need to get through GRE & TOEFL exams, For UK & Australia - TOEFL / IELTS, For Canada TOEFL is sufficient but some of the top universities require GRE too.,

If you wanna go for job : Based upon ure specilasation u can opt for jobs in various departments in pharma companies like :

Msc Organic / Medicinal chemistry : can go for [Synthesis ] Research and Development
    ( R& D) / Quality control (QC) department .

Msc inorganic chemistry : can go for teaching / PhD / Analytical departments.

Msc Analytical chemistry : Can go for Analytical R& D department.

    Msc Pharmaceutical chemistry : Can go for Q.C / Analytical dept/ R&D.

Apart from this if you are intrested in teaching you can join as junior lecturer / If u get JRF through CSIR then you can opt for Junior lecutreship.

    Bye & Take care...

Wish you all the best for ure future ahead.

There are lot of options available for you after Msc. yYou can continue in the same field and gofor the research , or in pharmacy ,laboratories . You can even go for teaching for that you have to write NET exam .If you pass in the exam then you can apply to any colleges for a vacancy .
And another option is that if you want to completely deviate from the science field then you cam go for MBA ,which has got a lot of job opportunities now .MBA is entirely different from what you have studied till now , so sometimes you may face little difficulty .So you have to study thoroughly and continuously to succeed in the course ....
OR the other option is that you can go for IAS , the minimum qualification is that you should be a graduate in any stream with 55% marks ...
