By going for Masters course in Engineering you get an in depth knowledge in this field. On completion of the Masters course if interested in the research field you can go in for a PH.d. Also you appear for the Junior Fellowship exam conducted by UGC. If you are interested in the teaching profession you can appear the NET exam after the Masters program. By going in for an MBA you will be pursuing a career in the non technical side. Your role will be more on the administrative side. If you would like to work in the technical side then the Masters in Engineering will be an added qualification. Also it is possible to pursue the masters in engineering course along with your job.

It is better to do M.E or M.Tech in Chemical Engineering. This will make you an expert in this field. You can also go for Ph.D after you ME if you prefer. With a Ph.D you can enter in to the research and academic field. You can gain some experience in the area by doing a job for one or two years and then go for ME or M.Tech. Chemical engineers will get jobs in different industries like petrochemical, pharmaceuticals, petroleum refineries etc. they can even get jobs in the government or private sectors. Biotechnology and nanotechnology are other areas were Chemical engineers can get jobs. They can also enter in to defense by writing civil service examination if you want.

Options available after B. E. in Chemical Engineering.

I am B.Tech in Petrochemical Engineering with 10 years experience in operations/production in petrochemical plants. Now i feel to get out of this production/operation environment. I feel it shall be interesting and more rewarding to opt for administrative/mangerial type of work. Please suggest how to change the profession, will a fulltime/part time post graduation course benefit? if yes then please suggest the best place to do that.

You know better as you are already in job,
so you must have realised about the market demands.
Chemical engineers are among the highest paid engineers in industry.
I think you should go for a MBA degree as it would help you grasp the
Buisness aspects, managerial aspects as well.
You can then get job in a profile where your work will involve
the invention, development, design, operation and management of processes in industries.
If you have more inclination towards technical side then you can go for ME/MTech.

First clearly you get your ambition. What can be you done. What is your interest. If your interested it technological field or research field you will take b tech or you are interested in management field you will take m b a. If you will take b e/b tech you are getting best opportunites in the government or private institutes and research fields. The best choice is this. Get clear your way. Best of luck.

The jobs you get after BE/BTech in Chemicals are low profile and risky enviorment..according to survey best and indian goverment act allowance of chemical industry in cities are not permitted..a separate chemical zone far away from cities almost 70 to 100 kms are allowed..i think MBA should be a good choice as After pursuing ME u have to find a job in lecturership which is difficult to find as there are few chemical engg. colleges....
