Re: Which optional subjects are easy for IAS Mains exam?

    dear friend...
no subject is easier to take as optional... all the thing is depends on the interest you show on a particular subject..
any intresting subject can study easily..
all you need is ..,just identifying the subject in which you are interested,,..
but.., anthropology and sociology are easiest subjects when compared with all other subjects...because of their limited syllabus... that's why they are also called as scoring subjects...
    thank you/........

Re: Which optional subjects are easy for IAS Mains exam?

Along with the preliminary exam, one has to go through choosing optional subjects in ones' mains too.
Part II of the main exam has a provision of optional subjects which can be as follows:

    Agriculture
    Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science
    Botany
    Chemistry
    Civil Engineering
    Commerce
    Economics
    Electrical Engineering
    Geography
    Geology
    Indian History
    Law
    Mathematics
    Mechanical Engineering
    Medical Science
    Philosophy
    Physics
    Political Science
    Psychology
    Public Administration
    Sociology
    Statistics
    Zoology

Talking about the ease of the subjects:
One must opt the subjects that one had already studied/is studying in one's graduation.
The subjects other than the ones' studied in graduation can be chosen on the basis of one's convenience with the subject.
This will save the candidate's time to study the subject again and hence this time can be utilized in other sessions of the exam.
    All the best!!!

    IAS stands Indian Administrative Service.

List of Optional Subjects for Main Exam are :
    • Agriculture
    • Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science
    • Anthropology
    • Botany
    • Chemistry
    • Commerce & Accountancy
    • Economics
    • Geography
    • Geology
    • Indian History
    • Management
    • Mathematics
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Medical Science
    • Public Administration
    • Philosophy
    • Physics
    • Political Science & International Relations
    • Psychology
    • Sociology
    • Statistics
    • Zoology
The following combinations not allowed are :
    • Political Science & International Relations and Public Administration
    • Commerce & Management
    • Anthropology & Sociology
    • Maths & Statistics
    • Agriculture & Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science
    • Management & Public Administration
    • Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science and Medical Science
Now, talking about an easy subject, well according to the IAS pattern no subject is easy. For each and every subject the syllabus is huge and takes lot of time to complete. The standard of IAS exam is regarded as the toughest entrance exam of India and in this case you can't expect any subject to be easy.

However, if you have studied any of the subjects or related course named in the above list in your graduation or post-graduation than it becomes a little easier to understand the subject and the topics covered in those subjects. Therefore, it is recommended that you should choose a subject or related topics which you have studied earlier in your graduation. In this scenario all your past knowledge will help you in times of Main Exam.

Re: Which optional subjects are easy for IAS Mains exam?

It's IAS!! Not an easy exam.. And also you need to work hard every day to chase your goals. There's nothing like it's easy and it's hard, every subject will be same. If you love it then it becomes easy. Moreover, the candidates who are giving a shot to IAS, IPS etc exams should have a strong mentality of never giving up!! And please don't maintain these doubts like which is easy and which is not.. Instead study hard and choose your optionals according to your background or interest.

For your information.. I think the following are bit interest and you may get attention towards them...
    • Public Administration
    • History
    • Indian Politics

I think the above are bit interesting for anyone.
