You can prepare for upsc exams and study m.tech simultaneously. in upsc exam you have to select your stream according to your graduation/post graduation .give one hour to upsc preparation from starting of first semester of m.tech, you can give enough time to each topic.if you are interested to know the concepts in your stream in deep then concentrate on study. you have to write your thesis in second year so you have to select good topic for thesis. after m.tech you will find many jobs in govt as well as in private sector.you will get most of the jobs in R & D industry.
if you have completed your b.tech in mechanical engineering and GATE exam this year then you are eligible for m.tech in aerospace engineering, but do not go to any private college for m.tech because they do not have sufficient infrastructure for m.tech in aerosoace engineering.here are some govt institute offering m.tech in aerospace engineering-

    IIT BOMBAY

    IIT MADRAS

    IIT KANPUR

    IISc BANGLORE

    DEFENCE INSTITUTE OF ADVANCE TECHNOLOGY

    ANNA UNIVERSITY

    punjab engineering college

school of aviation science and technology

you will get rs 8000/pm scholarship from mhrd of india during these courses
