The minimum qualification required to appear for the UGC NET exam is a Masterís degree or equivalent in related subjects. You need to have at least 55% marks in the qualifying examination. You can apply even if you are in the final year. For this, you need to submit your degree certificate within one year from the date of this test, otherwise they will be disqualified. The candidates who have qualified in the SET exam are also eligible to appear for NET exam. The upper age limit of the candidates appearing for JRF is 28 years. If you are appearing only for lectureship there is no upper age limit. There will be some exemptions for the M.Phil candidates. Those who have pursued M.Phil before 31 December 1993 are exempted from the NET exam.
