Engineering Service Examination, famously known as Indian Engineering Service as it was its old name.

For ESE or IES any engineering candidate having completed his Engineering degree from any government recognised and AICTE affiliated Institute is eligible to appear for the entrance.

Engineering Service Examination (ESE) or Indian Engineering Service (IES) is divided into 4 sub categories.

    Civil Engineering
    Mechanical Engineering
    Electrical Engineering
    Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering

Being a Electronics and Instrumentation Engineer you would be ale to apply under Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering or Electrical Engineering. However, it would be tougher enough for you get through those categories because entrance will be based on those Engineering streams only and no special syllabus will be followed for candidates having engineering degree other then above 4 categories.
