    IES Eligibility Criteria

    Educational Qualifications :

    Degree in :
    Electrical Engineering
    Electronics & Communications Engineering
    Civil Engineering
    Mechanical Engineering

    or equivalent degree from recognized universities.

    M.Sc. degree or equivalent with Wireless Communication, Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as a special subject is also acceptable for certain posts.
    Students of final year Engineering or equivalent degree are also eligible.

    Age Limits :

    Not less than 21 years and not more than 30 years as on August 1st on year of conduct of examination ( upper age limit relaxable for SCs/STs,OBCs and certain others )


    How to Apply : UPSC applications are available for Rs. 20/- at notified post offices all over the country. Rs. 100/- (rupees one hundred only) through central Recruitment Fee Stamp only shall be attached. There is a fee exemption for SC/ST/Female/PH candidates. Please mark exam code as ENGG and not as IES. IES means Indian Economic service. Be careful in this aspect.

    Last date for application : Usually in the first week of March in year of conduct of examination (offline)

    Applications can be made online also. For details refer website www.upsc.gov.in

    Date of examination : Commences from usually in the last weeks of June in the year of conduct of examination

    Indian Engineering Services examination is conducted by the union public service commission.The eligibility details of this exam are mentioned below:


    * Candidates must have completed graduation in engineering and technology from any recognized university.

    *The candidate must belong to any of the below mentioned branches.
    • MECHANICAL
    • COMPUTER SCIENCE
    • ELECTRONICS AND COMMUNICATION
    • CIVIL
    • ELECTRICAL
    *Minimum 21 years of age.

    * The maximum age allowed is 30 years.

    * Age relaxation is provided for reserved categories.

    * 5 years for SC/ST Candidates.

    * 3 years for OBC candidates.

    * 10 years for physically handicapped candidates.


    The above mentioned are the various details of IES Exam.

    IES stands for Indian Engineering Services .
    UPSC evry conducts IES examination evry year one time for through recruitment of engineers for different engineering services in central government jobs.


    As I want to tell you than IT branch students are not eligible for IES examination.
    Only some specified branch of students are eligible for it.
    Civil Engg.
    Mechanical Engg.
    Electrical engg.
    Electronics and communication Engg.

    Age :
    21 years to 30 years.


    You can do preparation for examination based on your stream .

    IES Stands for Indian Engineering Service examination and this examination is conducted by Union Public Service Commission Once in a year.

    If you have completed Engineering course from any discipline then also you are applicable for IES exam OR If you have M.Sc degree in Physics , Radio Physics then you are applicable for IES exam.Final year student also eligible for IES exam .


    If you have completed your B-tech degree in IT Background then you are applicable for IES Exam.


    The applicant age should between 21 yrs to 30 yrs.Age relaxation is provide for SC/ST/OBC candidate.


    Number of attempts for IES exam is for general student it is 4., for OBC it is 7 times. and for SC/ST it is 9 time.

    Indian Engineering Services Examination-
    All India Engineering Services Examinations are conducted by the Union Public Services Commission in India and this examination is conducted for the selection of the candidates in to the different categories of the engineering services of the government sectors examinations.
    The Information Technology graduates in the engineering are not eligible for appearing for the Engineering services examinations.Only the respective branches of engineering graduates are only eligible for appearing for the Engineering Services Examinations.

    The Engineering services examinations is applicable to appear for the engineering graduates of the respective areas of study in the engineering.there are also other requirements which are available for appearing to the Engineering Services Examination
    Required Qualifications for the Engineering Services Examination:
    *Age Limit-
    Should have attained the age of 21 years and should not exceed the age of 30 years
    *Educational Qualifications-
    Only the respective branches of study of engineering graduates are only eligible for appearing for the Engineering services examinations and the branches of study are
    Civil Engineering
    Mechanical Engineering
    Electrical Engineering
    Electronics and Communication Engineering
    These are the branches of study of the engineering for which the examination is applicable for........
    *Nationality-
    should belong to the citizen of India only...........
    These are the respective qualifications which are necessary for appearing for the Engineering Services examination...........

    Candidates who belong to the other categories of the branches of study in the engineering are not applicable for appearing to the IES examination.This examination is applicable only for the candidates of the respective qualifications.
    This IES examination is studied after the completion of the bachelor of engineering or the bachelor of technology course of study and the candidates who are in the finale years are not applicable to appear for the IES examination...........

    No, being an IT student you are not eligible for IES exam because, required Educational qualification for IES Exam is as follows:
