Re: What is the difference between UPSC and PSC?

UPSC and PSC are exams conducted by indian government.

While UPSC is conducted nation wide and the posting of the candidates is done all over the country, PSC candidates are placed to state level.

UPSC stands for Union Public Service Commission
PSC stands for Public Service Commission

UPSC exam is conducted by the central government while PSC exams is conducted by state government.

There is only one UPSC exam all over the country while different states have their diffrent PSC exams.

Re: What is the difference between UPSC and PSC?

    hello,
UPSC stands Union public service commission
    PSC stands public service commission
UPSC is an examination conducted at the national level. PSC on the other hand is state level exam. Any candidate who is an Indian can appear for the UPSC exam. Only candidates who are residents of the state where the PSC test is conducted are allowed to apply for the same. If the candidate clear the UPSC exam they can expect the posting to be in any part of the country. Transfers after every 2 -3 years can be expected. There may be instances where transfer may take place in shorter span. Those clearing the PSC test will be posted in that state only. In terms of salary the pay scale after UPSC test will normally be higher.
