Re: What are the optional subjects for IAS mains exam? Why we have to choose those two optional subjects?

Hi.... You need not worry about the subject you have chosen. Because IAS post is open for all students i.e. either they are of commerce, science or arts stream. IAS exam is conducted by UPSC once a year through civil service exam. Those candidates who have completed graduation in any stream is eligible for IAS exam. But remind it that your age must fall in between 21-30 years. Age relaxation is provided only for SC/ST/OBC category as per government rule.

Re: What are the optional subjects for IAS mains exam? Why we have to choose those two optional subjects?

It does not really matters which stream you belong to as they just look for graduates in any discipline from a recognized university.

Your age should be between 21-30 years.

At the most you can attempt for four times.

Selection procedure includes preliminary exams, main examination followed by interview.
