    hey buddy

    both of then can be got into by doing your civils

    i.e by giving your civils exams

    IAS - Indian Administrative Service

    its very highly reputed and an honour to becoe an IAS officer

    you will be posted in a smaller area first

    n depending on your progress you will be assigned to a better division

    very respectable..

    IFS - Indian Foreign Service

    representing india in other countries

    like an embassy work..

    hard to get in

    IFS-Indian Foreign Services


    IAS stands for Indian Administrative Service Exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) . IAS is the one of the most intelligent exams to crack and the toughest one too.
    It is obvious as the exam allows to enter the most prestigious job of civil services.

    IAS 2011 Notification / Important Dates:-

    Date of Notification:-19 Feb 2011

    Last date for receipt of applications:- 21 Mar 2011

    Date of Commencement and its duration:- 12 Jun 2011


    Minimum academic qualifications :-
    A degree from a recognised university or its equivalent

    Age Limits:-

    21-30 years as on 1.8.2011

    IAS Mains 2011:-

    Minimum academic qualifications prescribed:- A degree from a recognised university or equivalent

    Age Limits:- 21-30 years as on 1.8.2011


    IAS 2012 Paper Pattern / Syllabus:-

    IAS Exam has three stages Preliminary Exam, Main Exam, and an Interview

    IAS Preliminary Exam Pattern :
    The prelims are held around May-June.It has objective multiple choice questions. There are two papers (duration of each being 2 hrs).
    a) General studies and
    b)Optional subject: you can choose from Psychology, Sociology, Philosophy, Agriculture, Maths, Phy, Chem, Stats etc.

    The results are declared in July-August and if you are successful you will be called for the main examinations.

    IAS Mains Exam Pattern:-

    The main written examination usually takes place in Oct-Nov, it comprises of 9 papers in all .
    Duration of each paper is 3 hrs.If you are successful in the main examinations you will be eligible for an interview which plays a crucial part in the selection.

    IAS Interview :-

    The interview calls are sent in March-April of the following year and they take place in the month of April-May.


    Indian Forest Service Examination

    Notification of Examination : February/March
    Conduct of Examination : July

    Age-limits

    21-30 Years on 1st July of the year of examination

    Educational Qualification

    A Bachelor’s degree with at least one of the subjects namely

    >> Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science,
    >> Botany,
    >> Chemistry,
    >>Geology,
    >> Mathematics,
    >>Physics,
    >> Statistics and
    >>Zoology

    IFS - Indian Foreign Service

    IAS,IFS are Indian Civil Service exam and all the 3 exams are conducted by UPSC and they are held every year.


    All the exams have the basic eligibility criteria's and they are:
    PHP Code:
    Eligibility:

    You must be a citizen of India.
    You must have a age limit of 21-30 years.
    For 
    SC/ST 35
    Fro OBC 
    33
    For Ex-service men it is 5 years exception.
    You must have a degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
    You who are writing their final degree exam can also apply for the exam.
    You who have been selected as IAS or IFS cannot be a IPS and must be a member of that service.

    Attempts:
    For 
    SC/ST No limit
    For OBC 7
    For General 4.

    -->To Attend the IAS exams,You Should be a Graduate in any stream.

    -->To Attend the IFS exams,You Should be a graduate in Forestry (OR) Agriculture (OR) Animal Husbandry (OR) Botany (OR) Geology (OR) Physics (OR) Statistics.

    Age Limit :-

    **For General 21 to 30years.

    **For BC 21 to 33years.

    **For Sc/st 21 to 35years.

    Number of Attempts :-

    -->4 times for General Category

    -->7 times for BC Category

    -->NO limit for Sc/st Category.

    IAS IPS IFS kind of administrative services are selected through civil services exam conducted by UPSC.
    IAS is top post which stands for Indian administrative services.
    IFS is post which is Indian Foreign services.
    IAS:
    IAS is involved with civil administration and law and order,
    IAS officer is posted inside the country

    IFS:
    IFS officer deals in diplomacy and is involved in maintaining good relations with the country he is posted in.
    IFS officer remains posted outside the country

    The officers of the IAS play a major role in managing the bureaucracy of both the Union Government (Central Government) and the state governments, with its officers across the country. IFS stands for foreign services and indian forestry services.The Indian Foreign Service is part of the Central Civil Services of the Government of India. The Foreign Secretary of India is the administrative head of the Indian Foreign Service.
    The Indian Forest Service is the Forestry service of India.

    IAS is Indian Administration Service while IFS stands for two terms viz. Indian foreign service and Indian Forest Service.
    Selection for IAS & IFS is done through Civil service exam while there is a separate exam for forest service. All of this are central govt services.
