Re: On what basic subjects should I concentrate from 9th standard to have career in Astronomy?

I was wondering if someone could tell me what can I do from my 9th standard itself to become a theoretical astronomer later, And what will I have to choose after 10th?
    Thank You

You should mainly focus on Physics and Maths. You need to be clear at the conceptual level. Make sure you understand the basic concept, theorems etc. Thereafter you need to choose between engineering and B.Sc course. If you are interested in instrumentation astronomy then choose engineering stream. For this you will need to appear for engineering entrance exams after 12th standard. Those interested in theoretical astronomy can pursue B.Sc. Specialisation courses in astronomy are available only at the postgraduation level.
