    FRIEND,

    Yes friend you can write the IES exam in the last year of your B.TECH or B.E but you are not eligible to write to the exam in the pre-final year.

    So IES stands for ENGINEERING SERVICE EXAM and it is conducted once in a year by UPSC.

    To be eligible to appear for the IES you should be pursuing the engineering degree from the following branches.
    1. Civil Engineering
    2. Mechanical Engineering
    3. Electrical Engineering
    4. Electronics & Communications Engineering

    You must be a graduate from the above branches of engineering or in the final year of graduation of the course.

    Your age must be between 21 to 30 years and there is some relaxation in the age for the Reserved category candidates i.e 3 and 5 years for OBC and SC/ST respectively.A relaxation of 10years is given to Ex service man

    There are two papers conducted PAPER -I and PAPER- II and both the sections contain the Questions from your branch.

    • NAME OF THE EXAM:ENGINEERING SERVICES EXAMINATION, 2012
    • DATE OF NOTIFICATION : 25.02.2012
    • LAST DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS : 26.03.2012 (MONDAY)
    • DATE OF COMMENCEMENT OF EXAM : 15.06.2012 (FRIDAY)
    • DURATION OF THE EXAM: 03 DAYS

    dear friend,

    i think you are confused between the two. Both IES and engineering service exam is the same..

    IES means Indian Engineering services examination and for applying to this exam you are recquired to complete your engineering degree. IES can be applied for any four disciplnes. They are as follows:


    1. Civil Engineering.
    2. Mecahnical Engineering.
    3. Electrical Engineering.
    4. Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering.

    Dude Both the examinations engineering services Examination and the IES(Indian Engineering Examination) are one of the same and you can apply for the examination by being eligible for the examination,you need to satisfy some of the eligibility criteria which are required for appearing to the IES Examination......
    Indian Engineering Service Examination is conducted by the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) in India.This examination is conducted for the selection of candidates in to the various public sectors.....
    There are some required eligibility criteria which is to be followed,some of them are....
    Eligibility Criteria:
    >>Age limit-
    you should have the minimum age of 21 years and should not exceed the age of 30 years
    >>Educational Qualifications-
    you should have completed the Graduation in engineering in the branches such as....
    Civil Engineering

    As the last date to apply for the Examination is 9th April apply to the examination as soon as possible....

    Examination Pattern:
    The examination mainly contains of two parts
    Part1:
    This is the written examination which is conducted in two sections mainly
    and it covers the whole engineering syllabus of the relevant branch of study.....
    Part 2:
    it contains the personality test and it is conducted for those who had been qualified in the written examination......

    Actually IES is engineering services exam. The two names you are talking about are same.
    IES is conducted by UPSC, you can apply if you have done Btech in following streams and atleast 21 yrs old.

    Civil Engineering.
    Mecahnical Engineering.
    Electrical Engineering.
    Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering.

    Notification will be announced in February(in all national dailies) and exam is conducted in May.

    IES - Indian Engineering Services

    UPSC conducts IES exam every year.
    This test is conducted by UPSC to take engineers for government job.
    And IES exam will be totally for 1000 Marks.

    ->You can develop upto DIRECTOR GENERAL Post.

    Basics: 40% questions
    Applications: 40% questions
    Formulas and Graphs: 15% questions
    Assertion and Reasoning: 5% questions

    * You can get application from your nearest Post office. Or you can apply through ONLINE.
    * You have to mention 'Engineering' Option in the Application BUT NOT the "I.E.S" Option. I.E.S refers to Indian Economic Service in the application form.

    IES i.e Indian Engineering Service Examination and the examination was conducted by the Union Public Service Commission ]every year.

    And Engineering Services exam and IES examination are same.So don't worry you can apply for the examination.

    To apply for the examination,you need to complete degree in engineering from a recognized university or equivalent examination.

    The degree in any of the following branches :-

    I would like to tell you that both Engineering services and IES are same.
    Infact IES stands for Indian Engineering Services.

    The exam is conducted every year by UPSC for recruitment of engineers.
    The engineers are selected from the fields:

    1.Mechanical
    2.Civil
    3.Electrical
    4.Electronics and Communication

    Number of attempts possible:

    1.Open category- 4

    2.OBC-7

    3.SC/ST- 9


    Eligibility:

    1.You need to be an Engineering graduate (civil , mech ,eee, ece) .
    A pass is enough.

    2.A Msc graduate in Radio physics , telecommunication , electronics is also eligible.

    3.You must be aged between 21 to 30

    DATES:

    1.Submission of applications: last day February 17

    2.Exam : May 14

    You have four papers.
    Each paper for 200 marks.
    Thus for 1000 marks IES exam is conducted.


    Procedure to apply:

    OFFLINE:

    An application form along with an Information Brochure containing general instructions for filling up the form, an acknowledgment card and an envelope for sending the application is obtainable from the designated Head Post Offices throughout the country against cash payment of Rs. 20.

    ONLINE:

    Visit the website www.upsconline.nic.in
    Complete details on how to apply and each step are explained
    You have to fill in and download the form and send it through post alongwith exam fee rs.100

    About IES

    IES

    IES is an examination that is conducted by the UPSC for the selection of engineering

    to various PSUs and other governmental departments.

    The PSUs that are included in it are

    1. Indian defence service

    2. Indian railway service

    3. Ministry departments.

    4. Advisory to government departments.

    for civil engineering students there are more benefits,

    the other departments that they can recruit them are

    1. DMRC

    2. CPWD

    3. PWD


    ELGIBILITY CRITERIA

    AGE LIMIT: A candidate for this examination must have attained the age of 21 years and must

    not have attained the age of 30 years on the 1st August, of the current year.


    EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Obtained a degree in Engineering from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State

    Legislature.

    2. Final year students currently appearing.



    PREPARATION

    You can either prepare for the exam yourself, or approach a coaching institute.
