The first step for a Civil service aspirant is to attend the written examination conducted by the UPSC. There are two levels to this exam. The first being an aptitude oriented test and the second related to subject. You can select any of subjects from the list provided in the UPSC site. The main eligibility criterion for attending this exam is a graduation in any discipline. You should be more than 21 years and less than 30 years. There is relaxation in case of the age limits for the reserved categories. The final year engineering graduates can also apply. But you need to have your results by the time of the main exam. Since this is an All India examination which is conducted every year you need to be thoroughly prepared for this exam.
