B.Tech in IT is an excellent stream. It has lots of career prospects in India as well as abroad. It is important for candidates to do their graduation from a good reputed institution as to get good placements. In B.Tech IT you will learn lots of basic computer languages. Even though it is good to learn and secure additional certifications in new computer languages. It is not necessary and is not forced up on students. It is up to you to do different courses as it will give them an added advantage in their job search. If you find yourself hard to pick up the languages offered in B.Tech then you can also approach other institutions to get you basics in computer languages and get a personnel instructor to teach you those languages.

Re: Is it necessary to learn Computer languages while pursing B.Tech in IT?

it is not mandatory to read programming languages separately.
you will have C,C++ in your syllabus of Engineering you can know basics of programming with those papers.
depending on the branch you study more languages like java .net vb etc
so studying those papers in syllabus is more than enough
most of the software companies also expect only basics and if you are good in C you can easily succeed in job interviews.
so give more importance to your programming papers that are in syllabus.

Re: Is it necessary to learn Computer languages while pursing B.Tech in IT?

No there is no need to learn. If only you want to make a career in programming then you should learn some programming languages.
If you need to make your career in hardware networking and security, you don't need to learn any language.
In that case you should better go for some CISCO or MICROSOFT certified courses.
