Electrical engineering is one of the core branches of engineering and has lot of opportunities
in terms of job scope as it is a evergreen branch.Electronics and electrical is a branch which
lays emphasis on both electrical and electronics subjects.Here you are learning about electronic
circuits, instrument control systems, Power transmission and distribution, Power systems, electrical
machine design etc.So have a very wide range of choices to take as career.
After your degree you can search for jobs in process plants in electrical, mainatinence or Automation
departments.Here you will be responsible for the maintainence of the machines, Electronic drives, PLC
and automation systems.A electrical engineer is needed in every manufacturing and process unit to look
after the design , planning , implementation and maintainence of electrical systems.
You can also get a job in various thermal power plants , hydro electric power plants, state electricity
board, electricity companies etc.You can also get this core job profile in various PSU companies like
BHEL, SAIL, GAIL, NTPS, POWER GRID,ONGC etc.You can also work in various companies involved in manufacturing
of LT, HT switchgear, motors , transformers, Drives and automation , PLC'S etc.Here you can work in

Sir/ Mam,

I am a final year engineering student of electrical & electronics stream ( Visvesvaraya Technological University), having an aggregate of 63% till 6th semester. I am highly interested in getting into "core" companies instead of getting into an IT sector. Pls thoroughly advise wat all are the core companies, in "Electrical sector" i should opt for & how do i proceed in getting into these companies as a fresher.
