    Is it necessary to take Mathematics as optional paper for IAS mains exam being a Mechanical engineering graduate?

    hello

    i m not well in mathematics.Being a mechanical 3rd year student while selecting subjects for prepration 4 ias is it necessay to keep mathematics

    Hello friend,
    For first paper u have no choice u hv to study maths n apttitute but for second paper u can make subjects of ur choice.Subjects are as follows
    There are 2 papers in IAS
    For first paper subjects are
    1.General Studies
    2.Civil Service Aptitude Test

    and The optional subjects are:
    General Studies
    Essay
    English Qualifying
    Indian Languages
    Mathematics
    Agriculture
    Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science
    Botany
    Chemistry

    IAS exam is conducted by UPSC through Civil Service Exam so if you want to go for IAS exam , you can attend to CSAT exam.

    Those candidate are graduate from any recognized university with any discipline are eligible for IAS exam.


    But your age should be in between 22 to 30 years old.Age relaxation is provide for SC/ST/OBC category as per govt rule.


    The maximum attempts for SC/ST candidate is Unlimited. For OBC candidate it is 7 years and for general candidate it will be 5 years.


    Also you must be in citizen in India.


    The IAS selection process is consist in three way


    1)Preliminary exam

    2)Main exam
    3)Inter View.

    It is not necessary to take one subject mathematics for mechanical engineering candidate .You can choose the subject as per your choice because there is no boundary for Optional subject .

    OptionalSubject for IAS Exam:-




    These combinations of optional subjects not allowed :-
    • Political Science & International Relations and Public Administration
    • Commerce and Management
    • Anthropology and Sociology
    • Maths and Statistics
    • Agriculture and Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science
    • Management and Public Administration
    • Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science and Medical Science
    • Any two branches of engineering.
