There are basically three levels a candidate needs to clear. This will not include the articleship period. The first level is CPT level. For this the candidate should be a 12th pass. On clearing this level the candidates need to clear the IPCC level. There is no exemption for moving to the next level without clearing the CPT level. You can purchase a prospectus for Rs 100. The fees for the first level is Rs 6000-. The syllabus will include economics, mercantile law, accounts and quantitative aptitude.

    friend,

=> Yes it is necessary to attempt C.P.T entrance test to become a chartered accountant..
=> But there is only one chance to attend the next level I.P.C.C, The candidate must be a graduate..
=> The student who has completed graduation with B.COM by 55% can attend I.P.C.C directly..
=> The student who is a non B.COM candidate must have completed graduation with 60% can also apply for I.P.C.C directly..
=> So friend, you didn't specify, whether you are a graduate or not..
=> If you are a graduate with the minimum qualifying percentage to attend I.P.C.C..
=> Then you need not attempt C.P.T..

    Best of luck..

    deat friend.
chartered accountancy is a porofessional course aimed at providing the knowledge and the skills of accounts and taxation. The scope is good with the jobs in many private and public firms as an auditor, accountany expert etc..
The course is provided by ICAI In india. There are 3 levels of this course:
    1. CPT: This exam is given after the 12th standard.
This exam is not comopulsary to get into the accountancy course.
    2. IPCC: Those who have failed to give the CPT Can give this exam after their graduation from any stream.
    3. Final course: this is the final step towards the accountancy ,course. This exam is only accessible after the clearing of the IPCC Exam.

So the CPT Is not neccessary to give in order to do the course. You can go for the IPCC After your graduation also.
