Ofcourse that is necessary. If you want to get into any college for any kind of a professional course then there is a combined entrance test which is either on all India basis or state level.

If you want to go for medical courses in UP then you will have to answer the CPMT exam. There is no way out. Although there are some un orthodox ways which I dont recommend which is via Paid Seat.

You can get admission in thousands of medical colleges just by paying lakhs of rupees. No need to answer any kind of entrance test for that.

As far as I know there is no admission on the merit basis. Although some states might be organizing the admission on the basis of merit.

no,there are many medical colleges which are offering admission on the basis of management quota,but the donation fees to get seat on the basis of the management quota is very high,some times it goes up to even rs.50,00000 also,so if you are an person from an very rich family and are capable of paying such an fees then you need not write the pre medical test,some of the colleges which are capable of giving such seats are

2.vellur medical college
3.gitams,vizag
4.ramachandra institute of medical colleges ,banglore
but,if you can not afford such an high fees then you have no other option and write the cpmt,generally most of the students take admission through this way only and hence the competition is very high and you have to really work hard in this way,but you can also get admission in the best universities of the country through this way because the government universities do not offer admission through the management quota and every one has to write the entrance exam to join these colleges,some of the colleges under this category are

2.BHU
3.OSMANIA MEDICAL COLLEGE

CPMT -Combined pre mediacl test is a necessary exam ,after clearing it only you can enter into a medical college.There are many other exams also clearing which you can medical college,CPMT is state based exam.There are now a days many private colleges also which gives this degree.
So yes its true without clearing any competetive exam you cannot enter a medical college.

Most of student prefer first CPMT then goes MBBS because CPMT is easily as comparision in MBBS so student goes in cpmt.

To take seat in governmental college you have to go though all these exam but if you want to seek admission in private college then you can take direct admission.

Combined pre-medical test is the entrance exam conducted to select students for differen specialization in medical according to marks obtained.It is not necessary to go for mbbs through cpmt but if you got selection in cpmt than fees get reduced and you got a tag of cpmt cracker.Many private colleges are there who run mbbs programme but their fee amount is too high.So cpmt is necessary.

It is not necessary to answer FIRST, CPMT for MBBS.
You can also fill the form of various state level entrance exams for MBBS like DPMT (Delhi Pre-medical test) Now DUMET, UPMT, CBSE-PMT, Maharastra Pre-medical test & etc..
These test are conducted by a university or by 2-3 university combinedly for MBBS.
