    National Institute of Technology, Srinagar

    National Institute of Technology, Srinagar was established in the year 1960 as one of the eighteen Regional Engineering Colleges funded by Government of India. This institution is regarded as the premier higher learning institute in the Northern region of India. It was awarded the status of deemed university in the year 2003. It is a residential institution with accommodation facilities for the students and staffs. This institution is recognized as an Institute of National Importance under the NIT Act of 2007. It has got an Industry Interaction Cell since 1989.

    Admission Procedure of National Institute of Technology

    Admission to various undergraduate courses will be on the basis of the rank obtained in the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE). Those who have completed Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Technology course in the concerned discipline with a minimum of 60% aggregate can apply for a particular postgraduate course. SC/ST candidates need a minimum of 55% aggregate to pursue the concerned postgraduate course. The aspirants should also qualify the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) to join any of the postgraduate courses offered at this institute. This college offers doctoral level courses for the candidates who have secured minimum of 60% aggregate during the relevant postgraduate degree.
