National Eligibility cum Entrance Test

Medical Council of India conducts the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for providing admissions to eligible candidates in the reputed medical colleges within India. Through the test, about 35000 medical seats are filled. MCI’s objective is to lay down a standard for basic medical education. Those who clear the test can seek for admissions to different public and private institutions within the country. The admission procedures are carried on considering their qualifying test marks and the score in the entrance test.

Structure and Pattern of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test

The MBBS NEET test may contain questions on the Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects in Plus Two level. In the PG NEET test, questions will be on MBBS curriculum. Both the exams will be of objective type. Aspirants need to have thorough knowledge in the qualifying exam syllabus so as to clear the test.

Qualification Criteria for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test

The eligibility criterion to apply for the MBBS test is a pass in the intermediate exam from Science stream with not less than 50% marks. Aspirants should have studied Physics, Chemistry and Biology in the 10+2 exam. The percentage required in the qualifying exam is only 40% for SC/ST and OBC category and it is 45 % for PWD’s. Those who have secured the same percentage in MBBS are qualified to apply for the PG course.

Application Procedure of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test

Applicants can procure the forms from the official address of MCI. It will be an OMR sheet. Aspirants should be very careful in filling the forms. Copies of qualifying exam certificates enclosed along with the form should be submitted to the official address of Medical Council of India before the last date.
