I think You have Taken Good Decision, preparing Govt. vacancies in your Field During your B.tech Courses.
Since You should Know that Govt. Syllabus has been taken From mostly from your core paper. So, you need to focus on that.

and for more practice you should have to practice previous year paper of related Exams.

yes you are absolutely right.there are exams provides by the goverment which needs only +2 eligibility.if you want a higher grade job in govement sector you wait till the completion of graduation.it gives offers you more salary.otherwise you can go for the job of +2 eligibility.by working on that position it is possible to write tests and to be able to get promoted from your present position.

there are imense oppurtunity for branch like electrical,mechanical,metlargy etc government sector like ntpc,ongc,iocl,etc offers a huge amount of job.....
if u are computer science or electonics....there are drdo,nic,isro etc.....avialable
so its upto u government job is not bad....
it also ofeer huge sellary
so in my sense ur decision is right....

B.tech study requires a lot of time to study well.
While Pursuing in B.tech and along with it preparing for Government jobs makes you to labour more. And you than divert your mind to their preparation ,so you may disturb while regarding to your B.tech study,
so it will be more better for you to do one thing at one time so you may give more and more time to your studies.

As you have to give maximum time in your college and then you have to prepare for your B.tech examination .so how can you manage your time for preparation of government jobs.

And one thing is that basically it depends on your capability if you can give time for B.tech than you may go for it otherwise first clear your B.tech studies with good percentage so that you may easy get job in companies.

After completing your B.tech you can apply for government jobs.

There are so many recruitment are taken for government jobs.
Like:
IES : Indian Engineering Services.

IAS: Indian administrative services

CDS: Combined defense services

Railway jobs.

Bank PO jobs.
So after completing graduation you have so many job opportunity.

yes , you decison is right. infact without wasting the time after b.tech, you can prepare for government exam or any exams which will benefit you in your career point of view.
Concentrate on your b.tech subjects first and if you get time prepare for entrance exams for future aspects accordingly. you have mentioned on b.tech but which stream you didn't mentioned.
if you have mention i can suggest you some entrance exams according to your stream. ok concentrate well and try to set you mind in positive direction which helps you to take right path.

While pursuing Btech u can prepare for government exams n it'll be even helpful if u are having maths in your subject as a syllabus of your btech because many of the government exams concentrate on maths very much and if you are taking btech level math seriously then it'll really helpful for you.

Yes, your decision is right no doubt as going for the reputed exam like CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATION is good and if you want to do something for our country then it is good to give the CSE exam and serve for the country .

As IAS have a highest power when you compare to the other jobs and on the IPS have also same as you can think a IPS Officer is the head of a district police and captain of a district police .

So their is no doubt your decision is good but you have to take care of one thing that their is very huge competition in the exam.

As their is many candidates are applying for the exam and only selected students passed every year so the only way to get success is to work very much hard and study daily at least 15 hours a day .
