My name is Kirti Johri, I stay in Mumbai, after my Bsc. I have done Post Graduate Diploma in Environmental Pollution Control Technology from Garware Institute of Career Education and Development (Mumbai University) and now I am working in an Environmental Consultancy as an Environmental Engineer for EIA work but I am Planning to do Msc. in Environmental Science, but I am confused whether to do Msc or not or whether to do Msc full time or by correspondence.
Some people say that distance education is not worth but I have already spend money for my course and again to pay lakh of rupee will be so expensive so I am thinking to do some part time job with Msc full time. So please suggest me which direction should I go, should I do Msc full time or part time and what will be their benefits.

Hi I am Sahebrao Sonkamble passed MSc in Environmental Technology in 2004 from SRTM Univ. Nanded (MH). I qualified UGC NET for lectureship in 2005. I attended atleast 10-12 interviews for lecturer post in Indian Universities including SRTM Univ. but every where I found local politics and candidates were selected based on political recommendation plus money. I was the first candidate from School of Earth Sciences SRM Univ.qualified UGC NET with one paper published in SCI journal. Till 2005 NET was mandatory for lecturer recruitment. But after 2005 Ph.D candidates were exempted from NET for lecturer post. I also attended interview (interview by S R Wate scientist) NEERI Nagpur for Project Assistant post, and I was the only candidate who qualified UGC NET, but they selected only girls based on MSc. In Govt. sector they require specialists Ex. for air pollution they chose candidate of MSc Climatology or Atmospheric science and not Environ. Sc. In private sector opprotunity are there at Effluent Treatment Plant where life span will be reduced due to the odour etc. Now I am working in NGRI Hyderabad in groundwater dept. as temporary, but for regular post again they require only Geology candidate. Then what about Environ.Sc. students. Environ sc.being an interdisciplinary Science has become problem for Env. Sc students because theuy are specialist in nothing. I suffered a lot being an Env. Sc student being a poor economic background. I suggest be specific before chosing subject.

I did M.sc in botany and then Mtech in environmental Engineering i can attempt ugc net.

After MSC Environmental science you can pursue PhD in Environmental science.

Dear all I did a MSc. in Environment and Ecology from SMU in the year 2002 and that was in distance education. By next year I joined an rural NGO in the Purba Medinipur distrcit of Wets Bengal. Last seven year I worked with different NGOs and corporates. Out of seven last three years I spent with Water For People and US based NGO and working with water and environmental sanitation issues. However due to a poor financial background I need a good job as soon as possible since a job stands stands as 1st priority for me than a PhD or research. after completion of M.Sc. in environmental science, you can go for ph.d. course in any particular topic related to environmental science subjects...then after ph.d. you can be a lecturer in colleges and also can go for research and development fields and in many companies...you can also get job in government sectors in state pollution control board and committee...so don't worry there are lots of scopes are there after completion of your M.Sc. environmental science course...
