    You need to complete your Graduation.

    IAS is include in the services which come under civil services.

    Civil service exams are conducted by UPSC.

    This exam is conducted every year to recruite IAS,IPS,IFS officers.

    Good to hear from you that you are interested in the Civil Services. There is no percentage criteria to appear for the exams.

    The IAS(Indian Administrative Service) Exams are conducted by the UPSC(Union public Service Commission) board and the exam is conducted in two phases i.e Preliminary exam and Main exam. The Notifications about the exams are published in the Employment newspapers or updated in the UPSC website.

    To appear for the exams you need to fulfill some basic criteria:

    You must be a graduate from a recognized university
    Final year Students of graduation are also eligible to appear for the exam.
    Your age limit must be between 21-30 years in case you are a general category candidate for OBC the age limit is 21-33 years and for
    SC/ST the age limit is 21-35 years.
    You must be a citizen of India.

    Exam pattern:

    As you are aware that the exam is divided into 2 phases the first phase is the preliminary phase which comprises of 2 papers which carries 200 marks each. If you Crack in the preliminary exam you can appear for the Main exam which comprises of 9 papers. You need to crack the Civil Services exam within a given limit.

    For General Category- 4 attempts
    For OBC Category- 7 Attempts
    For SC/ST Category- No Limits

    The Imporatnt Dates of the exam:

    Notifications about the exam: 4th February 2012
    Last date to apply:5th March 2012

    Well to become an IAS officer you have to apply for the civil service examination which is conducted by the UPSC.The examination is conducted once a year and any graduates students can apply for the exam if you satisfy the other eligibility criteria for the exam.The examination is done in two phases ::

    1.Preliminary
    2.Main examination :: It consists of written examination and the Interview .

    Eligibility ::

    You must have passed your graduation in any streams from recognized college

    You should be between 21 to 30 years .There is some relaxation given to reserved caste students .The 5 years in upper age limit is extended for the SC/ST and for OBC i is extended to 3 years .

    No of times the general students can apply for the exam is 4 ,SC/ST unlimited times and OBC 7 times

    1.Preliminary exam::It consist of two papers and both are of objective types and common for all students .

    Paper 1 : (200 marks) - Duration : Two hrs.
    Paper II: (200 marks) – Duration : Two hrs

    2.Main exam:: Only those students who have cleared the preliminary exam will be eligible for the main exam.There are total 9 papers and students have to choose two optional subjects .After clearing the main exam you will get call for the interview.

    There is no required eligibility criteria to be followed for appearing to the examination in the graduation....

    IAS is one of the prestagious examination conducted by the UPSC and it is one of the civil services examination and it needs lots of dedication towards the hard work you need to do for qualifying the examination of the civil's.
    IAS/IPS both the civil services examination has lots of demand and it is one of the toughest competitive examination compared to all the competitive examinations....

    No, you don't need to maintain any min percent in your graduation to appear for IAS exams. Because any graduation pass out's are eligible to write these exams.

    IAS will be done in 3phases:

    IAS exam consists of

    before going to the syllabus you have to be eligible for this exam.

    Following are eligibility criteria for IAS:>>
    (i) Age limits :
    You should have 21-30 years as on 1.7.2012. (Upper age limit relaxable for SCs/STs, OBCs and certain other categories).

    There is no Minimum Percentage of marks require for this Examination . So, After Completing Graduation with Pass Marks your eligible for IAS Examination .

    ( For Example :- If your 40% Percentage then your eligible for IAS Examination . Percentage of marks is not an Issue for IAS Examination . )
