I have not yet seen educational board that provides degree of class 10 without having mathematics subjects.
Whatever the subjects you studied up to class 10 are the foundation courses.
The subjects which you are studied up to class 10 are:-
    >>English
    >>Hindi/Sanskrit/Urdu/Regional language.
    >>Physics
    >>Chemistry
    >>Mathematics.
    >>Biology

Other optional papers that you studied upto class 10 are:-
    >>Music
    >>Physical education
    >>Drawing

In order to take admission in class 11 and class 12 in science stream .
Then are two categories under it which you can select for it.
There will be necessary papers ,these are:-
    >>Physics
    >>Chemistry

    Optional are:-
    >>Biology
    >>Mathematics.

If you want to do engineering in future then you will have to select maths and if you want to go for medical line then you will have to select biology.

Thus it will not be necessary to have good marks in maths if you want to select biology and if you want to select maths then your marks should be good in mathematics.

    HELLO FRIEND
Yes i is a compulsory to have not only maths but every subject to be learnt in your 10th standard. After 10th standard you will have a choice in the subjects but there will be no choice for you in 10th.Coming to general awareness you will not need much much maths if you are planning to take science subjects in 11th class. But 10th is very important in career so, dont neglet maths for this years it is also equally imortant.

Of course ! mathematics is the compulsory for the student Belonging from 10th Standard. As you are telling that you are interested In the science Stream so it is good. There is so much good future in the Science sector.Every ting which you are seeing in your surrounding is completely related to the science. As you are interested towards this subject so you will Learn this easily. However you can face some problem in understanding the subject for few days or weeks , But after some time you will Learn each every thing very easily with the help of your teacher and your work.
So You have known now that in your 10th you have to study the Maths subject .But don't worry in Next year you can change this by taking the Bio-Science group.By this you can study the science subject as well as Not study the mathematics subject..

Yes friend, Maths is a compulsory subject in 10th class for seeking admission in 11th with science stream. If you want to take science stream in 11th class, then you must have mathematics subject in 10th class. If you don't have basic knowledge of maths which have been taught in 10th class then how will you understand the maths of 11th and higher class. So, you must have to take Mathematics in 10th class.

Dear friend, Mathematics after 10th is not a compulsory subject. It depends on you that which type of future you want.Actually there is two groups of Science stream viz. Medical and non-medical group. Now some students have interest in medical group and some have in non-medical group.Today mostly students are choosing maths group because of increased scope in engineering field but it does not means that maths is compulsory.
Well here I like to suggest you that choose inly that stream/group in which you have interest don't go by name or any one pressure.

    LIST OF NON-MEDICAL COURSES
    >Engineering
    >BCA
    >Navy
    >B.pharma
    >Banking
    >Air-force
    >NDA
    >NIFT
    >NID
    >B.sc

    NON-MEDICAL ENTRANCE EXAMS

    >AIEEE
    >IIT-JEE
    >UPTU
    >AMU

    Hi Anisha,

well, yes you can say that, since Maths with other some subjects is a compulsory subject till 10th, whatever you want to take in 11th it never matters.

Taking a Typical CBSE board as an example i may say that these subjects are always compulsory, whatever trade you want to pursue in 11th,

    These Subjects are :

    >> Mathematics

    >> Social Science

    >> Science

    >> English

    >> Any one language of your choice except English

Rest all subjects may be optional.

--------->>>> NOTE : I am Saying this when considering CBSE board, each trade have their own complusory subjects.

    Hope it helps!!

    hi dear,
well in 10th class maths is not optional you can not leave it.you must clear the exam of maths in 10th class.
Whatever a student want to go for medical, non medical ,arts or any other,he/she must hold maths in 10th class, there is no option for student that they can leave maths in 10th class.
But if you are interested in maths and in science also then you should go for non medical, but if you are interested in only science not in maths then you should go for medical.
    Good Luck

    Dear friend,

My friend if you are appearing for 10h class then you should

know that in 10th class maths is not a choice subject.

Maths is a compulsory subject till 10th class if you are appearing for board exams.

So you have to study maths as it is mandatory in all boards and states.

And if you want to take science in 11th class then maths is one of the subject in science.

So you need to study maths at 10th level.

    best of lk..

Thumbs up Compulsory subject in 10th standard

    Hello Friend

Yes, Mathematics is compulsory subject to go higher studies, irrespective of the stream you choose in the 11th standard.

Friend there will be some compulsory subjects at your secondary school level, to get some essential knowledge to apply in future like

    English
    Mathematics
    Science
    Social

Each subjects gives you the primary knowledge, and also gets you prepared to go for higher studies, if you are interested in any of the fields then at your higher secondary level, you can go for the specialization in that related field.

Friend as you said you are interested in Science field, you can go for joining after completion of subjects at your 10th level, with stream Biology, Physics and Chemistry as your main subjects in 10+2.

There you will not get Mathematics subject, once you opt for science stream in your 11th standard, so friend you should qualify in the 10th board exams with minimum pass mark in every subject so that you can step in to your 11th standard.

Friend for any further queries you can leave your message here.

    All the Best.

    Hello

Yes my dear friend,if you want to choose the branches M.P.C,M.E.C branches then maths is the compulsory subject for the candidates.

But if you want to opt. Bi.p.c,C.e.c branches then it doesn't matter even if you are poor at maths.

However there will not be any options in 10th standard as we have in 11th standard.

    All the best.

Re: Is maths a compulsory subject in 10th standard for seeking admission in 11th (Science)?

No it is not compulsory to study maths in 10th to pursue a career in the science field. If you wish to study courses in the medical field like nursing, MBBS and also B.Sc courses like Physics, Biology, Biochemistry etc you need not study maths as a subject. But normally in all boards like ICSE, CBSE etc maths is an important subject. You will be able to pursue 11th standard only if you clear all the papers in 10th standard. So if you are weak in this subject join for specialised training. Solve problems in each area till you are thorough in them. Solving past papers will help you to understand your level of preparation.
