Thumbs up Re: Is Mathematics required to join B.Sc Biotechnology?

    Hello Raaja

No, it is not essential that Mathematics must be one of your main subjects at 10+2 level to join in B.Sc Biotechnology, but some universities/colleges also consider Mathematics back ground aspirants also to join in biotechnology.

But mostly if you had completed your 10+2 with Biology, Physics, and Chemistry then you are eligible for the B.Sc biotechnology course which the duration would be 3 years.

If you need to go for higher studies then after the completion of your course you can go for M.Sc Biotechnology which is of complete 2 years.

Dude there will be also B.Tech Biotechnology course, offered by many top universities in India, which is 4 year duration.

To shine in Biotechnology stream you must develop certain skills like handling the laboratory equipments neatly, completing the tasks individually, should have good scientific knowledge and also must be updating with the new scientific journals etc.

During the 3 years course in biotechnology you will be learning different topics related to

    Cell structure and Dynamics
    Biomathematics
    Biochemistry
    Principles of Genetics
    Microbiology
    Principles of Immunology
    Plant biotechnology
    Tissue culture techniques
    Biodiversity and Taxonomy
    Animal biotechnology
    Bio-informatics
    Environmental biotechnology
    Industrial biotechnology........etc

So you will be touching the every subject related to the Life Sciences, there will be a good scope for the biotechnology aspirants to enter research, if having interest.

So dude i say that if you want to join in biotechnology course then go ahead, but make your study in India's top colleges/universities so that you will be getting idea related to different aspects and can develop good practical knowledge.

    Regards.

Re: Is Mathematics required to join B.Sc Biotechnology?

    Dear Friend,
The subject combinations that you studied in 10+2 varies from college to college as per their own requirements. There may be mathematics or may be not.But you should score at-least 60% and above in BIology.
As per my opinion your subject combination should be following. the subject combinations vary from college to college.

    1. Biotechnology(mandatory)
    2. Chemistry(mandatory)
    3. Botany / Zoology (optional)
    4. foundation course- in which there are languages:
    a.English,b.Hindi.
    c. The third subject changes every year
For- i)1st year it's entrepreneurship development.
    ------ii)2nd yr-environmental studies.
    iii)3rd yr-computers.

    GOOD LUCK

Re: Is Mathematics required to join B.Sc Biotechnology?

    hi,friend
No.Maths is not compulsory to study to go in the B.sc field.
B.sc is the bachelor of science.and In the science stream.there are 2 groups.
    1) physics+chemistry+maths
    2) physics+chemistry+biology.
If you have group 2 in the science field, then you can study with biology instead of maths.and then you can also going in the B.sc field.
thus, maths is not so compulsory to going to in the B.sc field.
In short, if you have science stream, then you can go in the b.sc field easily after passing the 12th science with at least 45%.
