Sure your friend can apply for the jobs in the research organisation. It is a must that the candidate pursue the course from a reputed and recognised institute. Also for research posts it is a must to have completed Masters course. Also there are criteria's like the candidate must be citizen of the India, must have no criminal background etc to join research institutes like ISRO and DRDO. In the DRDO job opportunities for M.Sc Chemistry candidates will be in the area of Junior Research Fellow. They prefer candidates who have experience in field of coatings and characterization of hazardous chemicals. There are also opportunities in ISRO also. The opportunities are especially for those who have specialised in electro chemistry background. There are also job opportunities in other sectors like pharma, chemical industries etc.

DRDO has recently invited application for various posts. As to the post of Research Associate in DRDO, a candidates needs to have PH.D or M.Tech with more than two years experience. For Senior Research Fellowship also candidates needs to have a ME or M.Tech. As your friend is having M.Sc Chemistry he can apply for Junior research Fellow Jobs. For this post candidates from different PG courses can apply. M.SC or BE Polymer Science, M.SC chemistry and even candidates from BE or B.Tech can apply for the job. Candidates having experience in the same field is more preferred for this post. There are lots of other research organizations in the country to which your friend can apply for with M.Sc Chemistry.
