    Information, eligibility criteria and salary prospects of collector (IAS) post?

    Respectd,
    I m persuing electronics and communication.. I m n BE first year.. I want to become collector.. For that what i have to do..?? Which exams i've to clear...?? Please guide me.. Give me information about exams, elligibility, sallary..!!

    dear if you want become IAS officer than it is really a good career option but you have to be eligible for the entrance exam for IAS.
    ELIGIBILITY
    you have to complete your degree from any recognised university incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in india or other educational institutions established by an act of parliament or it may be declared as deemed university under the act of ugc act 1956.
    age limit
    you must have 21 years of age and your age must not be above 30 years on august 1 of the year of examination.
    age relaxation
    • you have 5 years of age relaxation if you are belong to the SC/ST,
    • you have 3 years of age relaxation if you are belong to the other backward classes,
    • you have 5 years of age relaxation if you are domiciled in JAMMU Kashmir during the period between January,1,1980 and December 31,1989.
    the IAS exam will be consists of three stages
    • prelims,
    • mains,
    • and finally interview stage ,
    preliminary examination:
    in this exam there will be two papers :
    the IAS prelims consists of objective and consists of two compulsory papers to all of them .
    the negative marks for each question is 0.33 marks,
    • general studies carries 150 marks,
    • any one optional subject -300 marks,
    optional subjects for the preliminary examination,

    • animal husbandry and veterinary science
    • botany,
    • chemistry,
    • civil engineering,
    • commerce,
    • economics,
    • electrical engineering,

    you have 2000 marks for the written exam and 300 marks for the interview.the interview conducted on the basis of main exam . so you have to prepare well for the exam.
    the notifications for the civil services prelims will be appear in employment news and on UPSC's website on 04-04-2013.
    • Opening Date for Registration: 5 March 2013
    • Closing Date for Registration: 4 April 2013
    • Civil Services Preliminary Exam Date: 26 May 2013

    ELIGIBILITY

    You have to complete your degree from any recognised university in corporated by an act of the central or state
    AGE
    Your age must be in between 21 to 30 years on 1 August of the year of examination
    5 years relaxation for SC / ST CATAGRY
    3 Years relaxation for OBC
    The IAS Exam consists of 3 stages
    1 prelims
    2 Mains
    3 The finally interview stage
    PRILIMINARY EXAM
    In this exam there will be two papers . negative marking is there
    General studies carry 150 marks
    one optional subject carry 300 marks

    Yes you can appear for IAS after completing Degree

    See am giving you complete eligibility and subjects in IAS and exam pattern also

    IAS is a civil service exam conducted by UPSC board.

    Age limit :
    1. The age limit for civil service exam is 21-30 years.

    Age relaxations :
    1. Relaxation for 3 years for obc
    2. Relaxation for 5years is given for sc/st's

    Number of times for writing the exam :
    1. The no.of chances for filling the form is
    i. General category-4,
    ii. OBC-7
    iii. No limit for sc/st

    Educational qualification :
    1. Candidates must complete graduation from recognized board in India.

    Exam pattern :

    There are 2 exams in IAS and compulsory every one must pass both the exams

    IAS preliminary exam :
    Paper I - (200 marks) Duration: Two hours
    1. Current events of national and international importance.
    2. History of India and Indian National Movement.
    3. Indian and World Geography - Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and the World.
    4. Indian Polity and Governance - Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc.
    5. Economic and Social Development Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector initiatives, etc.
    6. General issues on Environmental Ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change - that do not require subject specialization.
    7. General Science.

    Paper II- (200 marks) Duration: Two hours
    1. Comprehension
    2. Interpersonal skills including communication skills
    3. Logical reasoning and analytical ability
    4. Decision-making and problem-solving
    5. General mental ability
    6. Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.) (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. - Class X level)
    7. English Language Comprehension skills (Class X level).
