well you have asked to compare diamonds.........IIM itself is a sort of brand so all the older iim's are superb................however iim-a, iim-b and iim-c stand out of the league and have outstanding placements.......that does'nt mean that other iim's are not good but these 3 are the best..............
as far admission is concerned you have to appear for cat and crack it with atleast 99.5% so that you can get a call from iim's for gd and pesonal interview............after gd and pi you will get a call if you are selected......remember you can give gd and pi in more then 1 iim's depending on whether you have recieved the call for gdpi from more then 1 iim's
for getting a call 70 % wieghtage is given to cat score & remaining 30% depends on your academic background................
