    IAF Commissioned Officer Entrance Exam

    A career in Indian Air Force is considered as one of most esteemed and prized jobs in the society. As an officer in IAF, one has to maneuver, guide and administer. The organization recruits many talented people for the various officers’ post through the national level competitive examinations.

    The IAF Commissioned Officer Entrance Exam is organized by the IAF recruitment board for the selection of officers in several branches. The diverse branches include Administrative, Education, Logistics, Air traffic, Accounts and Metrological. The short listed candidates in this examination will undergo a rigorous training in the diversified areas and surroundings. The training period is so crucial that it will prepare them to face any kind of challenges in future.

    Structure and Pattern of IAF Commissioned Officer Entrance Exam

    The IAF Commissioned Officer Entrance Exam is organized in India twice every year usually in the months of March and July. The recruitment through this examination includes three kinds of test followed by a final interview. The first test will be the Officer Intelligence Test (OIR). The candidates who are selected in this OIR will be enrolled for the Psychological test and Group test. However final selection is given after evaluating their performance in these tests and a final interview. All the finally selected candidates will have to go through another medical test.

    The IAF Commissioned Officer Entrance Exam is a written examination which comprises of four sections. They are
    • General Awareness
    • Numerical ability
    • Reasoning and Military aptitude
    • Verbal ability in English
    The question paper includes a total of 100 questions and duration for examination is 2 hours.

    Qualification Criteria for IAF Commissioned Officer Entrance Exam

    All applicants are required to fulfill certain qualification and eligibility criteria as per the norms of IAF recruitment board. The qualification required for each branch is different. The following are the criterion.
    • For Administrative & Logistics Branch: The applicants should either pursue a first class in graduation or 1st or 2nd class in post graduation or a 1st or 2nd class in three year LLB. The age of candidates should be between 20 years and 26 years.
    • For Education branch: The applicants must hold either qualification in post graduation in English/ Defence studies/ Psychology/ Mathematics with 1st or 2nd class or BE with 1st or 2nd class or MBA with B.Sc./ BA. The age of candidates should not exceed 25 years.
    • For Accounts branch: The applicants should have pursued either B.Com/ B.Com Hons in I division or B.Com in I or II division or B.Com/ M.Com with Chartered/ AICWA/ Incorporated accountant. The age of candidates must be between 20 to 27 years.
    • For Meteorological branch: The applicants should have qualification in M.Sc. degree in Meteorology or related subjects or MA/ M.Sc. in Mathematics/ Applied mathematics or a I/ II class in M.Tech in Atmosphere sciences pursued from IIT Delhi. The age should be between 20 to 25 years.
    Application Procedure of IAF Commissioned Officer Entrance Exam

    In order to attend this examination, students are required to submit application forms. The advertisements for this test will be published in leading newspapers or employment news. The format of application form will be given in the advertisement itself. All eligible applicants should send the duly filled application form to the specified address of IAF on or before the last date together with the relevant documents.
