The area where you can start your preparation is the general knowledge and awareness section. Reading newspapers regularly is a must. You must certainly read the editorial section in these papers. Note down new words with their meanings. This will help in increasing your vocabulary. Other than read magazines and various journals. It is important to be a vast reader. For the other areas in prelims start preparing atleast 2 years before you plan to appear for the test. Once you are comfortable in the same start preparing for the mains too. During graduation choose any of the subjects that you are comfortable in so you can choose the same for the main exam too.

    Hello,
Its good that you are giving so much concern to your career. in order to acheive your goal i think this is the right time for you to start this. Still you have more than 6 t 7 years to appear for civil services as minimum qualification is graduation.
first of all see the subjects that you think are your strong points and then opt it to make it a optional subject in civil services. Whatever subject you choose go in depth of that subject.
secondly, you can start with the general studies. indian history, geography, indain polity, economics etc. and the most important the current events and generak knowledge. These are very common and conceptual and you should start from right now.

    good luck!

    Hi friend !!

IAS -- Indian Administrative Services .
The Indian Administrative Service (IAS) is the administrative civil service of the executive branch of the Government of the Republic of India.
The officers of the IAS play a major role in managing the bureaucracy of both the Union Government (Central Government) and the state governments, with its officers holding strategic posts across the country. It is one of the three All India Services.
It is basically meant for those aspiring candidates who have strong dedication towards the country.

India holds a UPSC examination every year and on the basis of this examination a number of IAS officers are recruitment.

    Eligibility Criteria :-

The minimum qualification required for appearing the competitive examination is Graduation. Many professionals like Engineers, Doctors, persons with Ph.d qualifications are competing for UPSC.
Application forms will come out in the month of January.
Paper pattern has changed in IAS 2011 exam.

Paper Pattern for IAS 2011 exam :-

Unlike present, now there are two objective type papers carrying equal marks, in which
    1) General-Studies paper carries 150 marks
    2) Optional paper carries 150 marks.
Instead of one compulsory paper of General Studies and one Optional paper, both the papers shall be compulsory.

So for this there is no need to prepare right from 9th standard , you concentrate on your subjects and maintain a good score which helps you for your further higher academics .
But as you are much interested in IAS , improve your general knowledge skills .
You must have a max knowledge on Indian Govt , Politics , etc ,.
Can go through the IAS reference books for having a knowledge on it and get your mind set towards your goal .

You must update about the current news about the Indian politics and also about the social culture and the religions.
Indian politics details is very important. Gather information about the IAS current information and know about the History.
History is very important for the preliminary exam.
In some district free coaching class is also available for the IAS exam. Make use of it.

Re: How should I get prepared from 9th class onwards in order to achieve my goal to become an IAS Officer?

There is no such requirement for a student who want to pursue CSE(Civil services examinations) in future to start her or his preparation right from the 10th standard.
But if you still want to devote some of your time to the preparation of your future goal, then I can suggest you some measures to utilize your free time or the time which you
get after performing all your necessary activities.

Firstly you should realise the importance of an IAS officer or an IPS officer in the development of our country.
These exams are conducted by an autonomous body called UPSC(Union Public service commission). This autonomous body is responsible for the selection of candidates
who are suitable for serving the nation. These candidates are required to work for their nation and to use their thoughts as well as ideas for the efficient achievement
of the goals of the government.

In my opinion, an IAS officer should have the following qualities as these are extremely necessary for effectively fulfilling their duties
    as an IAS officer:-
    1)Honesty.
    2)Sincerity towards work.
    3)Intelligence
    4)Good physical health
    5)Courageous
    6)Tactful

So,even before qualifying 10th standard, you can try to develop all of these qualities in your personality. This can prove really helpful for you.
As far as the procedure to become an IAS(Indian Administrative Services) officer is concerned, the procedure can be explained as follows:
    1)Preliminary exams-
This is the initial stage in the process to become an IAS.Firstly you have to fill the required form , and then you have to submit the form to the concerned authority
(you can simply send your form through post). The forms are usually available at post offices. The exam s conducted usually in the month of June.

    2)Mains examination-
This is the second stage in the process and any candidate who has cleared the first stage is eligible to appear for this level.A candidate can fill the form for this
exam only after the results for the preliminary exam are declared. This is a subjective examination and the candidate is required to select subjects according to
    his or her own preference.

    3)Personal Interview-
This is the third and the most crucial stage in this process. Only a few candidates who really deserve this post are left after the completion of this step.
A candidate needs to prepare a lot because the questions asked may be very tough and require to answer with tactics.Any candidate who has cleared the previous stage
can appear for this stage.A candidate should go through mock interviews before facing the final interview.
    7)Having good communication skills.
