group discussion is an event where your communication skills and your understanding skills are tested.
when a particular tpic is given, silently thunk about it for 2-3 min and then start speaking and don't force your points on others.Rather convince them. Also never use the phrase "you are wrong about that".Instead use "I disagree with you here my friend".Don't rubbish and be confident of whatever u speak.
also listen to what others are telling.
I can tell u an instance where a boy who did not participate in a GD at all and he was asked by judge to summarize GD at d end.
due to his good listening skills he did it beautifully and he got through that round

    Hi,

Effective way to take part in a GD:

1.Keep your knowledge of current affairs-especially ‘hot’ topics up to date.

2.If it is a fresher’s interview for an industry or bank etc. then one should gather knowledge about their mission, systems and challenges etc.

3.It may be useful to hold mock group discussions with friends or classmates.

4.Preparedness and self-confidence are the keys to success in a group discussion.

5.Grab an opportunity to speak but never lose sight of the main topic.

6.Be aggressive in presenting your viewpoint but do not be arrogant.

7.Speak clearly and loudly enough for everyone to hear what you are saying.

8.Don’t just say that you agree or disagree with a particular person-present your viewpoint with clear explanations.

9.Remember that in a discussion a person is judged for the leadership qualities and original thinking. Hence speak fast and sensibly.

10.Listen attentively to others so that an important point is not missed out. Sometimes if any speaker cannot explain the point properly, you can adopt and explain the point as your own.

11.You get evaluated not for your thinking but expressing your viewpoint and in the manner you do so.

12.If you perceive that the discussion is moving towards its end, try to quickly take an opportunity to summarize it and draw logical conclusions.

13.During the discussion try to maintain an eye contact with the other speakers and do not focus attention on the moderator alone.

14.Your confidence and communication skills are the best tools in a Group Discussion. Use them deftly and expertly.

    Hope this will be helpful.

    ALL THE BEST!!!

    Hi buddy

This a very genuine question raised in the minds of many people that how should they prepare for the group discussion.

So here are some tips for you:
    • Try to initiate the discussion.

    • Make some remarkable points during the discussion.

    • Do not try to speak aggresively.

    • Stick to the topic and think creatively.

    • Do not raise unnecessary controversies.

    • Give a chance for others too.

    • It would be good if you support the points raised by others if they are really good.

    • Try and conclude if possible.

    BEST OF LUCK
