    Re: How to prepare for GATE 2011? Books for preparing MCQs in GATE exam?

    From last year Gate exam has changed the exam pattern a little bit, now it has a 3 hour test covering 65 questions, carrying a total of 100 marks. 55 questions are from technical area and 10 questions from general aptitude. Marks for each right and wrong question varies for each set of questions in the paper, for example first 25 questions carry 1 mark for right answers and 1/3 marks will be deduced for wrong ones. For instrumentation engineering, GATE questions will be from areas of engineering mathematics, basics of electrical and electronic circuits, instrmentation control systems, digital and analog electronics, signal processing, biomedical instrumentation, electrical and electronic measurements and control systems and processes. You can go in for good coaching materials from Brilliant in postal mode. In culcutta, SRIE and Gateforum are two known coaching centres for GATE coaching. All the very best

    Re: How to prepare for GATE 2011? Books for preparing MCQs in GATE exam?

    The first step of preparation starts with knowing the syllabus and then familiarizing with all the relevant subject topics. Selective study should be avoided so that you can score good marks in GATE. The next step is to solve every single questions thereby you get a good practice and can make sure that you can solve any similar problem when it comes in the entrance exam. Systematic study will always help you. The choice of books for preparation is an important factor and some of the books you could refer to are as following:

    Mathematical Logic: Discrete Mathematics by Tremblay Manohar, Probability , statistics and queuing theory " by S.C.Gupta & V.K.Kapoor
    * Numerical Methods: S.S. Sastry
    * Formal Language and Automata Theory: Formal Languages and Automata theory", J.D.Ullman etal
    * Analysis of Algorithms and Computational Complexity: Introduction to algorithms" - Cormen etal" Computer Algorithms" - Horowitz and Sahani
    * Digital Logic: " Digital Logic circuits and Design " by Morris Mano
    * Computer Organization: " Computer Organisation " by Morris Mano

    Some Other Important books
    “Multiple choice questions” - Timothy. J. Williams, TMH publications
    " Gate Question Papers” - G.K.Publishers

    The coaching centres in Kolkata are:

    • Life Coach Training
    • Dronacharya
    • S.R.I.E
