UPSC carries out the Civil service exam for finding out the right aspirant. The qualification you must have is a graduation with any stream. Age of the aspirant must be within the limit of 21 and 30 years. The civil service exam covers preliminary test, main exam and interview. You must practice well to clear the test. There are optional subjects in the mains that you can take. There are Indian language, English, essay general studies and any optional subjects. It is a tough examination. Dear friend , its all depend upon the fact that what subjects you have choosen, have you studied those subjects at graduation, how much seriously you have studied at graduation, how much enthusiastic you are for civil services and so many. If all answers are come out to be positive, then you are going to be fully prepared at a short span of 10-12 months. Generally it takse 1.5- 2 years for the beginners to appear in the exam. To prepare for IAS the preparation takes 4 years it starts from the day you get into a college.

we cant just tell you precisely how much time is required to prepare foe IAS exam , because IAS preparation is a long process , there are some people who started their preparation when they where in schools ,usully what people do is that after graduation or any other course they spent one whole year just for the IAS preparation , and also the duration may depend up on the ability of the person . any way what i want to tell you that , don't wait for an opportunity to start studying ,rather you start your preparation when you are doing any other studies .

sir i am pursuing B A Final year and i am working in transport company.i am reading g.k and current affair daily so tell me on which topic i focus and .sir my job timing is 9 am to 9 pm so how i give time for this

well dear its not easy to get admitted in IAS or to qualify the IAS entrance exam..........it requires very hard work and the best training before the exam............. you have to study at least 10-12 hours daily..........

I.A.S means Indian Administrative service. For writing this exam we should have degree certificate with the percentage more than 90%. The time for completing this course is depends up on the person who is studying which depends on his effort,interest,talent etc..,
