this depend upon your cathcing capability & hold or command over your subject.
start from ground level means study NCERT books from 6th to 12th books again
& realize what you have left behind.

    hi..
there are only four chances to appear for ias exam for an general category student,so you should not waste any of your chances by just appearing without any thorough preparation ,
the number of years you must prepare can be correctly decided by only you,the best way is to join some coaching center and see your performance among the students in the tests conducted by them,if you do well there you are surely at least ready to write the exam

Indian Administrative Services under UPSC exams cover a wide variety of syllabus. It is not possible to start from the scratch and complete the syllabus in short amount of time. This depends on your current knowledge on subjects like general studies, history, geography, political system of India, current affairs, mathematics, etc. If you have not prepared for IAS earlier or you are not in a habit of reading newspaper daily, then you should start studying whole-heartedly. IF you completely devote yourself to the preparation for IAS examination, your final year would be sufficient. Again, this depends on your intellect. It depends on how much you can grab in one year. Refer to some good books, solve previous years questions, stay updated regarding politics, history and geography of India. If you are not able to clear UPSC exam in your first chance, then take a drop and study with putting more efforts to it.
    all the best!!

There is no such thing that you will have to prepare for years and years to clear this exam,People clear this exam in first attempt also and some people many chances to clear this exam,so it totally depends on you how you prepare for th exam....
IAS-Indian Adminitrative services is one of the toughest exam of the country..and it gives the royal job too.IAS is conducted by UPSC every year ,the exam is basically divided into 3 parts first will be preliminary exam in which you will have to prepare for general studies and an optional subject as well,If you clear this round you will be elligible for the main exam in which you will have to answer an English paper and one paper of any language of the country..and if luckilly you clear this stage also you will be elligible for the final round in which you will have to apear for Personal Interview infront of the board members...I must say you need to give your 100% then only you can clear this exam ...
I wish you all the best !!!

Cracking an IAS exam doesn't require time in years. It totally depends on your mind level, and how you plan for studies, and how much hours a day you can devote fully towards your studies.
If you are capable then you can clear it in a first attempt also. and if you are not then you can't qualify it in any number of times.
without practising you can't say about the time require for this purpose.
    best wishes

Re: For how many years should I prepare for IAS entrance exam after BBA?

How many years of preparation would be required by you is not any solution to the problem.

You may crack it in a single attempt also if you have that level of preparation.

It entirely depends upon your preparation and performance in the entrance. Any one can not say that by preparing for 3 years you will be able to crack civil services, these are the pointless things.

All you need is a systematics way of preparation and a mind set that IAS is not tougher then my intelligence I can do that.

If you are having a good, systematic and hard worked preparation of 18 Months then you will be cracking IAS even in first attempt. I mean to say a 18 months of healthy preparation is enough to get through the entrance. And I am not the only person who is saying this you can even consult Jyanti Ghosh (TOP Career & Education Consultant) if she will say I am wrong.

Generally aspirants keep preparing and appear for entrance for several years till there last attempt but even after that unable to crack the entrance, just because lack of systematic approach to the problem. So, all you need is a good guidance and time management ability.

The basic requirement for writing the exam is a degree from a recognized university. The applicant must be an Indian. The candidate’s age limit must be between 21 to 30 years. General category students can write only 4 times. The OBC students can write only 7 and SC/ST have no age limits. The Civil service exam separated into 3 steps. There is a preliminary exam, a main exam and an interview. The applicants must have a good knowledge about the current affairs. There are optional subjects you can choose. There are English language based questions. The aspirants can fix a timetable and prepare according to that.

    Dear,
As per as I am considered , the preparation of the IAS exam is not just one month or two month preparation , its the basic things you learn from the beginning. You can just revise when the exam comes nearer.
General awareness is quite important for the preparation of the IAS examination.
Reading newspapers is the most important source of general awareness .
Develop a habit of reading newspapers.
Your knowledge about the past i.e. history as well as civics is very important.
Age limitation is between 21-30 years with a relaxation of 5 years for the reserved categories.
Exam is divided into preliminary , mains and interview.

    Thanks.

    Hi Dear,
As now you are in last year of BBA stream and you are planning to do Civil services exam preparation . So, for the preparation you need minimum time of 1year and maximum is upto you preparation, but 1 year is only possible when you are really serious towards UPSC exam and make yourself fully dedicated towards the studies . UPSC exam preparation is not very much light weighted compare to other exams like Medical or Engineering. So, really to want to an IAS officer , start your studies from now onwards ,don't waste time ,because time is very much precious ,and it doesn't wait fro anyone .Best of luck .Thanks
