After Completing Diploma in Electrical Engineering you have the option to do B Tech in Electrical Engineering. For getting admission for B Tech you first need to clear with the entrance examination conducted by various universities. You can appear for some famous engineering entrance exams, basically AIEEE, IITJEE and few more. It will also be easy for you to crack the entrance examination as you have already done your diploma, and you will be familiar with the syllabus.

Other best option is Lateral Entry Scheme, which is specially meant for Diploma or B.Sc degree holder, by which you can get directly to the second year of Btech course. In this scheme an Entrance is conducted by state Government which have there own scheme of selection. This entrance is a state level competition Diploma or degree holders can appear for it and after cracking it they can find admission into Government as well as Private Engineering colleges located in that state.

Few private institutes provide direct admission on the basis of aggregate in Diploma. 60% marks in all semester is the basic criteria of selection.

Nowadays electrical engineering is an upcoming field. The changing lifestyle of the people has increased the demand and they are completely dependent on electrical energy. While undergoing the diploma there is full exposure on the practical side. Field training shall be provided during the course period. The diploma course is for 3 years. But in this highly competitive world a degree in Electrical engineering will be an added advantage. Also there is high demand for well qualified professionals. So after the diploma curse pursuing a Degree course will be an added advantage.
You need to decide which institute you will like to pursue degree course. Each institute would have it’s own or common entrance test. Admission to institutes like Indian Institute of Technology(IIT), Vellore Institute of Engineering, Birla Institute of Technology are based on their own tests. The eligibility criteria include that the candidate should be atleast minimum 18 years old and maximum of 23 years for appearing these tests. It would be advisable to get at least a first class in the diploma course to secure admission in good institutes.

As you want to know about the mechanism of calculating the average marks for Diploma as well as degree,so here is the procedure for calculating the average marks for both the courses i.e. Diploma and Degree.

Procedure to calculate the Aggregate marks of the Diploma course:

>> 25% marks of the total marks in the Diploma 1st year.
>> 50% marks of the total marks in the Diploma 2nd year.
>> 100% marks of the total marks in the Diploma 3rd year.

Total aggregate % of your Diploma course = Total Marks Obtained/ 25+50+100*175.

Procedure to calculate the Aggregate marks of the Degree course:

Total aggregate % of your Diploma course = % marks of 1st year + % marks of the 2nd year + % marks of the 3rd year + % marks of the 4th year/4*100.


Since,you want to get admission in Degree course on the basis of your Diploma course,so you need to calculate the % of the 2nd,3rd and the 4th year.


>>For getting admission in Degree on the basis of your Diploma course,you need to appear for the Lateral Engineering Entrance Test(LEET).It is an Entrance test for admission in Engineering on the basis of the Diploma course.It is a State level test,so you need to visit the official website of your State's Technical University for the latest updates of the LEET of your State.


Eligibility conditions for LEET:-

• You must have passed your Diploma course from a recognized Institute or any State Board of Technical Education.
• You must have cleared your Diploma course with minimum 60% marks.
• You must not have any backlogs left in Diploma course.

Age limit for LEET:-

Your age should not be more than 28 years at the time of test.
