    Well CIVIL SERVICE examination is conducted in three phases ::

    Preliminary exam ::There i no optional subjects .It is common for all students . Initially there used to be optional subjects in the prelims but from the last year there is no optional subjects .This examination is given a new name called CSAT examination.

    Main exam::In main exam you will have to choose two optional subjects from the list of 25 optional subjects .The Main examination includes following paper::
    1. Essay type Indian Language Qualifying Paper (300 marks)
    2. English Qualifying Paper (300 marks)
    3. General Essay type paper (200 marks)
    4. General Studies (Paper-I&II 300 marks each)
    5. Optional subject-I(Paper-I&II 300 marks each)
    6. Optional subject-II(Paper-I&II 300 marks each)


    Eligibility ::

    If you are interested in appearing for civil service exam then you should have passed their graduation in any streams from recognized college

    You should not be less then 21 and above 30 years .Relaxation in upper age is given to reserved caste students .

    For SC/ST -> extended to 5 years
    For OBC -> extended to 3 years .

    Number of attempts ::

    No of times the general students can apply for the exam is 4 ,SC/ST unlimited times and OBC 7 times .

    Eligibility Criteria for IpS :-
    • Graduate degree in any discipline like Engineering,Medicine,Science,Commerce......etc.
    • Age should be between 21 years and 30 years at the time of appearing for this examination,upper age limits is given to the various reserved categories.
    • 3 years relaxation for obc category.
    • 5 years relaxation for SC/ST category.
    • 10 years relaxation for PH category.
    • 5 years relaxation for Ex-servicemen.
    • Candidate must be physically fit for this examination.

    IPS(Indian Police Services):

    There are two optional subjects you need to select among the subjects given in the main examination.generally the Prelims examination takes place in two papers mainly and after selecting in this first round of prelims you will be allowed for the main examination and in this main examination you had optional subjects in which you need to select two papers of your wish and then appear for this main examination and this is of the descriptive type examination and the candidates successfully selected in this examination are allowed for the Interview process and up on this Interview selection you will be given the chance of IPS officer..............

    IPS :Indian Police service.UPSC will hold the IPS examination every year.


    The IPS Examination should consist of following fields namely...

    Preliminary examination
    Main examination.

    Preliminary exmination shoud consist of 2 papers and both of them is objective typr question.After craking the preliminary examination yuo can go for main examination.

    After that you have to write the CSAT Examination.




    Eligiblity for CSAT(Civil Services Aptitude Test).

    Its good to choose your career towards the IPS as it is one of the best professional career option which is having many opportunities and to apply for this course you need to write some entrance examinations and have to follow some eligibility conditions

    IPS exams comes under the civil services exam and this exams are conducted by the UPSC every year there is lot of competition for this exam and the number of applicants are increasing every for this IPS career

    There will be a selection process for this and you need to have some eligibility conditions to appear for this exam and if you clear the written test then you are eligible for the next rounds after the final interview then you are eligible to take training for the IPS officer so you need to clear the written test first


    Eligibility criteria for IPS :-

    --you must complete your graduation course

    --you must be physical fit

    Selection process for IPS examination:-

    -Preliminary examination

    I P S : INDIAN POLICE SERVICE.


    *It is a dream of every Indian to clear civil services exam and become as IPS.

    *The organizer of civil service examination is Union Service Public Commission (UPSC).

    *The examination procedure is quite different from other exam. In order to get selected a
    candidate needs to clear 3 stages.

    * The 1st stage is a Preliminary exam.

    *The stage one is further divided into 2 papers.

    *The paper 1 consists of 150 marks for which questions will be asked from general studies
    that have to be completed within 180 minutes.

    *The paper 2 consists of 300 marks for which questions will be asked from optional
    subjects that have to be completed within 180 minutes.

    *If the candidates passed the first stage then he /she will be selected to attend the main
    exam which is nothing but Stage 2.

    The stage 2 consists of 9 papers and the duration for each paper is 180 minutes.

    The papers are Language (candidate opted), English, Essay writing, General Studies
    (2 Papers), Optional subjects opted by the candidates (4 Papers).

    If the candidate clears this stage, then they will be called for the final stage which
    is Interview.

    A panel of members check the ability of the candidate and assess them for 300 marks.

    Finally all the marks obtained by the candidates in the all stages will be totalled and the
    merit list will be declared.

    Based upon the marks the candidates will be appointed in civil services accordingly.

    IPS exam is conducted by UPSC through Civil Service Exam so if you want to go for IPS exam , you can attend to CSAT exam.

    Those candidate are graduate from any recognized university with any discipline are eligible for IPS exam.


    But your age should be in between 21 to 30 years old.Age relaxation is provide for SC/ST/OBC category as per govt rule.


    The maximum attempts for SC/ST candidate is Unlimited. For OBC candidate it is 7 years and for general candidate it will be 5 years.


    Also you must be in citizen in India.


    OPTIONAL SUBJECT FOR IPS EXAM=>




    But you couldn't chose following combination of subjects:

    Political Science & International Relations andPublic Administration;

    Commerce & Accountancy and Management,
    Anthropology and Sociology; - Mathematics and Statistics;
    Agriculture and Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science .
