If you want to go in merchant navy then you have to fill the IIT-JEE form and your selection will be purely on the merit basis means you have to performed good in IIT-JEE. If you selected in written exam then you have to go for interview. If you are successful in interview. Then they give you college which conducts 3 years course of B.Sc in nautical science, B.Tech in nautical science etc.

Dear friend , you can join Merchant navy after 12 th , it will be best for you that if you have passed your 12th as PCM main subjects with more than 60% marks , then you can go for Graduation degree with merchant navy as your main stream. If you finishes your graduation on a good note then you will be placed in shipping companies , dock companies etc , where you are provided a 1 year training and then after you are posted permanently. Si , i would suggest you to give entrance exams of colleges offering this course and after getting admission , complete your graduation on a good note.

    All the best.
