    Hello friend!
    Firstly you should have a great zeal to become an IES officer.Any graduate can write the IES exam
    Graduates from all fields have become IES officers_medical ,literature,biotechnology etc

    It should be your subject of interest.Mostly people choose BA literatureBut not necessary It depends on you.I already told graduates from many field have entered IES


    1)First there will be a screening exam full of multiple choice.

    2) If you get selected then you can attend the mains.

    3) Then you will be called for interview.

    4)The marks of the main and interview are considered for the FINAL rank list.

    5) Those who are included in the FIRST 100 get IES.


    >One year preparation is necessary
    >But most make it the second or the third time
    >If you are in school then start your preparation today itself
    >Read newspaper and MAKE YOUR OWN OPINIONS ON IT.this is very important BE aware of what is going in the society.

    Following are eligibility criteria for IES:>>
    (i) Age limits :

    Hello friend!
    You should have 21-30 years as on 1.7.2012. (Upper age limit relaxable for SCs/STs, OBCs and certain other categories).
    (ii) Educational Qualifications :

    You should have Bachelor’s degree of a recognized university with at least one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering or an equivalent qualification .
    >>You don’t need any minimum percentage to get eligible for IAS. Just graduation degree is enough to go for IES.

    IESare generally conducted by UPSC.In the month of may and June there will be preliminary exams and main exams held usually in the month of october.
    Civil service preliminary exam dates:>
    Notification will be published on :04/feb/2012.
    Last date of receipt is :05/march/2012.
    Date of exam is: 20/may/2012.

    Civil service MAIN exams dates:>
    Exam date:>05/OCT/2012

    1. First of all check the old question papers and go through them
    2. Read books on Language Skills, GK
    3. You can give mock test
    4. Assure your graduation syllabus should be on your tips

    You have not mentioned the stream you have specialised in. For the IES exam you need to first note down the syllabus of the exam. Purchase the right reference books for these areas. Sort the syllabus based on the areas you find difficult and those that are easy. Your timetable should include all the areas. Make a provision for revision. Solve papers regularly to test your level of preparation. You should make sure that you solve past papers before attending the exam.

    You have not mentioned your stream so i have attached some books name , you can prepare well those books .Then you can definitely crack the IES Exam.

    Indian Engineering Services Examination:
    IES Examination is going to be conducted by the Union Public Service Commission in India and these Examinations are of the Public Sector and the jobs will be going to be in the Public Sector Organisations..
    There are some eligibility criteria which is to be followed for appearing to the Indian Engineering Services Examination.Eligibility criteria are as follows...
    *Age limit-
    You must have attained the age of 21 years and must not exceed the age of 30 years for appearing to the Engineering Services Examination....
    Upper Age limits are as follows...
    SC/ST-5 years
    Government servants-5 years
    BC's-3 years
    Defense Service Personnel-3 years
    *Educational Qualifications-

    There is not a specific way to prepare for any competitive examination.Some of the practices which should be adopted to get assured success in such professional examinations can be listed as follows:
    1)Firstly you should aim at time management.You should try to divide your time into specific time internals and then you should devote a particular amount of time on each and every subject separately.
    2)Secondly you should try to minimize your wastage of time in unnecessary activities.
    3)You needs good guidance to pass such examinations and so you should join a good coaching institute.
