Do you want to waste your time in preparing for GATE examinations. Or do you want to just concentrate on your B.Tech program and possibly secure the highest marks possible there. GATE regulation is mostly in government colleges and in very few private universities. That also private engineering colleges do not have this kind of restriction. Few government and private engineering colleges they take their own examinations and interview to select candidates for M.Tech. If you crack it there, you will make in the M.Tech selection list. Also you can go for open universities. One advantage of open university with respect to other universities is that you do not need to spend all your day in the college. You get a lump sum amount of extra time other than the scheduled classes when you can do a part time job or any other academic related activities for your physical and mental growth. So think about it.

It's a good idea to get for you about your carrier.But be planned if you are really intrested to clear the gate and get into mtech then proceed and go for weekend coaching center which provides coaching only on saturday and Sundays only. I suggest this because Monday to Friday you can have your btech. studies and on saturday and Sunday you can prepare for gate.

If your still in dilemma whether to take coaching or to write gate exam then decide soon, because most of them takes coaching and then with out doing mtech. opts for doing software jobs due to various reasons. So, lastly i suggest you to go for coaching if and only if you wants to do mtech only.

Mode of preparation:
Go through your btech. subjects form Monday to Friday but in the weekends prepare for gate.This would be a better plan.Follow only one materiel either text books or coaching centre material.
