    Food inspector exam is conducted by PSC. To apply for the exam, you must be an Indian citizen. You have to complete graduation in any discipline from a recognized university. Your age must be between 21 years and 35 years. The reservation candidates have upper age relaxation. You should full fill minimum physical standard. The exam patter includes two papers. The first paper consists of Current Events of National & International Importance, General Science, Indian Polity and Economy, World Geography and Population, Indian National Movement, and History of India. The second paper comprises of Fruits, Vegetables & Plantation products, Animal Food Products, Cereals, Pulses & Oil-Seed products, Food Additive & Chemical Preservation, and Definition & standards of Food quality. To prepare well for the exam, you have to collect as many reference books as possible from the library. You should refer only standard books for the exam. Divide the entire syllabus into smaller portions and then study each portion. Note down all the points while studying which will help you in quick reference before the exam date.

    FOOD INSPECTOR EXAM

    Food inspector exam is for those candidates who belongs from a medical course.Such exam is conducted by UPSC, there are lot of eligiblity criteria.As you had not mentioned your stream from which you had done your graduation.For food inspector exam you must be graduate from a recognized university.Inspite of UPSC, All India food inspector entrance exam & Punjab food supplies depatrment entrance exam also conduct food inspector exam.
    ELIGIBLITY CRITERIA
    -Candidates must be citizen of India
    -Candidates must be graduate in any discipline of medical profession,agriculture candidates also eligible
    -Candidates must be of 21-35 years of age
    SYLLABUS

    Syllabus can not be mention because you had not mentioned your stream.

    Food inspector is responsible for giving inspections every time. Mainly he is responsible for Food processing and hazards etc.
    You can get around 15k per month as a starting pay.

    Eligibility :
    • You should be an Indian
    • You must have 21years as your min.age to apply for this exam
    • You must be graduate in food safety fields
    • If you have taken biology,chemistry or ariculture also eligible
    You should write the entrance exams like ;
    >>UPSC exam
    >>All India Food Inspector exam etc to get selected.

    Food inspector syllabus :

    Food inspector exam consists of two papers ;
    Paper I
    Paper II

    1) First Paper – General Studies :
    The paper of General Studies will include question on the following topics :
    1. General Science
    2. Current Events of National nad International Importance.
    3. History of India.
    4. Indian National Movement.
    5. Indian Polity and Economy.
    6. World Geography and Population.

    Question on General Science will cover general appreciation and understanding of Science, including matters of everyday observation and experience, as may be expected of a well educated person who has not made a special study of any scientific discipline.
    In History of India emphasis should be on broad understanding of

    economic, Social, Cultural and Political aspects of Indian History. In Indian National Movement, the candidates are expected to have a synoptic view of the nature and character of the Indian freedom movement, growth of nationalism and attainment of independence. In Indian Polity and Economy questions will test knowledge of the candidate pertaining to Indian Polity including the Indian Constitution, Panchayati Raj and community Development,

    broad features of Indian economy and planning. In world Geography and population, only General understanding of the subject will be expected with emphasis on physical/ecological, economic and socio-demographic aspects of Geography of India. Candidates are expected to have general awareness about the above topics with special reference to Uttar Pradesh.

    2) Second Paper – Main Subject:

    1. Definition and standards of Food quality. Proximate analysis of Foods, Fat, Protein, Carbohydrate, Vitamins, Minerals Fibres and Water, Human Nutrition, Major and Minor Nutrients and their role, Deficiency Diseases.

    2. Fruits, Vegetables and Plantation products:- Definition, Classification, Juices, Pulps, Powder & Extracts, Squash, Cordials, RTS_Beverages etc., Jam, Jellies & Marmalades, Puree, Paste and Concentrates. Ketchups, Sauce & Pickles, Still & Carbonated Beverages. Tea, Coffee and Chocolates, Spices, Quality tests of above food products.

    3. Cereals, Pulses and Oil-Seed products:- Definition and Classification of wheat, Rice, Pulses & Oil seed products. Flour, Bread, Biscuits, Cake and other Baked Items. Dehulled legume-Pulses. Vegetable Oil- Refined & Hydrogenerated etc.

    4. Animal Food Products: Fluid Milk and its various kinds. Concentrated and dried milk Products, Fermented Milk Foods, Cream, Ice-Cream, Butter, Chees, Milk Adulterants and its detection. Meat, Fish, Poultry and Egg Products and their quality Control.

    5. Food Additive, Chemical Preservation and assessment of excess use of preservatives & Chemicals, Food Colours, Poisonous metals, Anti Oxidants, Food Flavors, Insecticides & Pesticides, Irradiated Foods. Fierobiological quality of Foods, Food safety, Food Sanitation and Hygeine. PFA, FPO, BIS and AGMARK Specifications of various types of Food and Food Products.

    How to prepare ?

    You can prepare for this exam from the prev.year question papers. You try to solve them more as the questions may come from those. At least they will come with the prev.year paper pattern.

    And maintain a time management, prepare totally from the basics.

    Union Public Service Commission conducts All India Food Inspector exam for the recruitment of Food Inspectors in various offices within the country.

    Structure and Pattern of the All India Food Inspector Exam

    The test pattern comprises of questions on technical side, which includes science subjects.

    It also consists of numerical ability and GK questions.

    There will also be an English language test.

    The duration of the exam will be 150 minutes.

    Aspirants need to be very careful in attending the unknown questions, as there is negative marking for incorrect answers.

    Qualification Criteria for the All India Food Inspector Exam

    Graduates in medicine who have gone through training in food inspection are qualified to attend the test.

    Otherwise, the aspirants should have completed the bachelors’ degree in any of the science subjects.

    They must have studied Chemistry as a subject in their qualifying course.

    Graduates in Agriculture / Pharmacy / Food Technology / Dairy Technology are also eligible to apply for the test.

    Only aspirants from certified Universities are qualified for the exam.

    Those who are having an equivalent degree can also apply for the test.
