dear friend ,you should have mentioned your branch also because there are different opportunities in govt jobs for different branches of engineering . For example ,for core branches such as mechanical,civil,electrical, electronics and communication,electronics etc. have more vacancies in govt jobs than non-core branches like Information technology,computer science.
There are various ways through which you can get a govt job. Every year various exams such as IES (Indian engineering services )conducted by UPSC;NTPC;BHEL etc are held for govt jobs . There are many options available to get govt. job after graduation.
It depends on the stream in which you have completed your graduation.
If you are in :-

1) science stream: Go for
BSNL,
Delhi Metro,
Civil services,
NTPC,Railways,
DRDO and many more.

2) For other streams: Go For
Bank PO,
Defence,
Sub-Inspector,

* You can go for Bank jobs by attempting to write clerical and PO `s exams.
* You can give Staff selection organised CGLEI.
* You can go for attempt for IES Exam.
