    How to start my preparation by self without any coaching? How to start preparing for IAS??

    It is a good decision to start you preparation for IAS exam on your own provided you have the right confidence. As an initial step you should try to understand about the structure and pattern of the exam and prepare for the exam on that basis. You should start your preparation for preliminary exam first. If you clear this level you can attend the main exam. You should practice model question paper for this exam which can be downloaded from official site. You should have good knowledge about current events. You have to set specific time duration and based on that you should practice question papers. This will help you identify the subjects where in you lag behind and improve more on those areas. You can also refer good reference books as part of your preparation.

    Dear friend,

    IAS stands for Indian Administrative Service.

    IAS Exam or Civil Services Exam is conducted by UPSC every year.

    You can crack IAS Exam without Coaching also but it needs Hard Work from you.

    "A GOAL PROPERLY SET IS HALFWAY REACHED."

    If you have make up your mind to crack IAS Exam, then you can crack it by your own effort.

    You will have to pass three stages to crack this exam:

    >> Preliminary Exam (CSAT Exam)

    >> Mains Exam

    >> Personal Interview

    Exam Pattern of these exams is:

    <> Preliminary Exam:




    <> Mains Exam:


    You will have to choose Optional Subjects yourself among 18 Subjects for Mains Exam.


    Choose that subjects in which you have more knowledge and have interest.

    So that, you can prepare for it easily.

    Well you can prepare IAS exam on your own if you are well enough.

    IAS is a civil service exam conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) every year.

    As this exam is conducted national level there will be heavy competition,hence you have to prepare well for this exam.

    The eligibility criteria for writing this exam are

    +Minimum Educational Qualification : Any bachelor degree

    + Nationality : Indian

    + Age limit : 21 - 30years (+5 years for ST & SC)

    + No. of attempts :

    General Group : 4

    OBC : 7

    ST & SC : No limit.


    First try to understand the syallbus for IAS exam (I have attached pdf file).

    The buy any prescribed IAS preparation book.Try to solve a question paper within a given time because time management is so important for writing any kind of examination.


    But my advice is to join in any IAS academy ,it will be really useful for you.
