Admission is through entrance followed by a screening test and a main written examination.


Merchant Navy Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility for joining merchant navy is class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
unmarried indian citizen .After clearing the test, there is an interview and a medical test. Normal vision is required but glasses up to plus or minus 2.5 may be allowed.

The minimum requirement for joining the merchant navy as a deck cadet is candidate should have passed 12 months,which is offered by various institutes across India.

The minimum requirement for which is the candidate must have passed class 12 (PCM) with at least 60% aggregate or some institutes also have 55% as minimum requirement.

Duration of full training is 12 months,and the course fees varies from institutes to institutes.however inticatively it will cost at least 70,000 for one year only course fees.

However,private institutes can demand anything between 1,20,000 - 1,50,000.

Yes dude you can get in to Merchant Navy with your 12th(PCM).

Merchant navy is included in NDA exam .

NDA exam is conducted by UPSC.

NDA stands for National Defense Academy.

This is conducted by UPSC for those who are interested in gettign in to Defene services.

UPSC conducts this exam twice every year.

Only male un-married Students are eligible to apply for this exam.

You need complete your 12th from a reconized board to apply for this exam.

Your age need to be between 16.5 to 19 years.

NDA exam consits of manly 3 wings they are NAVY,AIR FORCE and ARMY.

For Navy you need to complete your 12th with PHYSICS MATHS and CHEMISTRY subjects .

As you are a student from PCM background you can apply for Navy exam.

mercnant navy is a defence service which comes under NDA .

this exam is conducted by UPSC twice in a year .

there are few eligibility criteria for having a job in merchant navy they are as following :-

career in merchant navy can be done in two specialized fields

• marine engineering,
• nautical ,

several courses are available to you if you want to become seafarer

• 3 year degree courses in nautical sciences,if you have compleated 10+2 than you are eligible for this.
• 4 year degree courses in marine engineering,if you have compleated 10+2 than you are eligible for this
• 2 year course for diploma holders,
• 1 year course for the graduate mechanical engineers,
• 3 month course for deck cadets , if you have compleated 10+2 than you are eligible for this.

there are four government training institutes providing pre-sea and post-sea training are

if you want to get admission into this college for three years degree courses than you have to give JEE EXAM conducted by IIT.
your age must be 20 years as on 1st october.
after clearing the screening test of the IIT you are eligible to pursue your career in merchant navy as a deck officer and you have to fulfil the application form which is available at the directorate general of shipping in mumbai,and selected branches of syndicate bank all over the india.
marine engineering and research institute (MERI)
this institute conducts 4 years degree courses in marine engineering recognised by the AICTE and affiliated to the university of jadavpur.
you have to give JEE EXAM conducted by IIT.
your age must be 20 years as on 1st october.

these are institutes conduct exams for pre-sea courses for the nautical as well as engineering cadidates both for 10+2 and engineering cadiadtes.these institutes follow their own selection procedure.
