To clear this exam first of all you must understand the structure and syllabus of the exam. As part of the test you will need to appear for two exams. You will be allowed to appear the second exam only if you clear the first exam. In the first exam there will be aptitude oriented questions. So you need to prepare in areas like general awareness, mathematics, verbal ability etc. In the second exam you can select a subject from the list provided. So based on the syllabus you need to decide whether you can clear the exam through self preparation. The benefit of going for coaching is that you will get various tips and also guidance.

You can appear for the Civil service examination directly after completing your graduation. There are many students
who have qualified this examination without taking any kind of coaching and so you can also prepare for the exam
without taking any kind of coaching. But it requires hard work and determination on your part as you would have
to select the best books for the exam and have to extract the relevant knowledge out of those books.
There are three stages in which this exam is conducted which can be mentioned as follows:
    1)Preliminary exams
    2)Mains examination
    3)Personal interview
