In order to become an IPS officer the first step is to appear for the UPSC exam. There will be a notification of the exam if the leading newspapers, Gazette of India. As part of the exam the candidates will be first required to undergo the preliminary test. If they qualify for the same then the main test and finally the final interview. For the prelims you need to prepare yourself in the area of general knowledge and the one of the optional subjects mentioned in the list of subjects in the application form. For the general knowledge area you need to be thorough in the current affairs. In the main paper you need to appear for 9 papers which include papers in English, one of the languages in India, two papers on general knowledge, an essay paper. The last four papers will from the optional subjects you choose from. On clearing the mains you will be called for the final interview. In order to be eligible to appear for these exams you need to be first of all an Indian citizen, minimum age of 21years. Also you need to be a degree holder or at least in the final year of degree.

IAS and IPS exams are held by the UPSC Civil Services examination. It is a common entrance exam conducted in two parts, Preliminary and a Main Exam. To become an IPS officer it is a long road which might take up to at least one and a half year.
Eligibility criteria to sit in the IPS entrance exam are a degree from any Indian university or any equivalent qualification. Final year students can also appear in the preliminary exam. The candidate must reach at least the age of 21 years and must not exceed 30 years of age. The upper age relaxation is provided to SC/ST and OBC category.

To become an IPS Officer aspirant should be competent in every aspect, You need to first clear the CSAT exam conducted by UPSC.after preliminary you will enter into mains then interview.

Since you are in standard 12th it is a benefit to you ,so to be a IPS officer you have to appear for the entrance exam of the conducted by the UPS C ,to appear for exam you must fulfill the eligibility criteria that is min graduation from any field age should be above or 18 ,the UPS C exam is divided into 3 parts that are; pre.exam, main exam, and an interview .
For the IPS you need to be good in GK, GS and about the current affairs .In the interview its always said that the things cumming under sky can be asked .For general only 4 attempts and 7 attempts to Obc.

The IPS exam is conducted by UPSC.The eligibility for IPS is as follows:
-Bachelor's degree from a recognized university.
-Age limit:21-30yrs.

The exam is conducted in three stages i.e Preliminary,Main and Interview.You need to pass all the three stages.The number of attempts is 4 for open,7 for OBC and no limit for SC/ST.

To become an IPS officer you have to clear the exam called UPSCexam ( Union Service Public Commission) or civil services exam .There are some requirement which you have to fulfill and then only you can go through the IPS process. Firstly you should be 21 years of old and holding the graduation degree. Then you have filled the form of UPSC which you can do next year in the month of Jan ,2012. Then there are 3 stages of UPSC exam i.e Pre- examination,Main and the last stage is an Interview. You need to sit in and clear civil services examination conducted by UPSC...you atleast need a graduation degree with high second division to sit in this examination...

general studies is the head ache of most IPS aspirants , so start preparing for it as soon you decide to seriously think IPS as a career option.

Don't provide you the information of ips examination ,

IPS stands for Indian Police Service , the examination for ips is conducted by upsc union public service of india for every years .

Eligibility criteria for ips examination :

>>You should be citizen of india .

>>You should be finished your graduation in any stream with good percentage of mark in recognized university .

Note : There is no minimum percentage is require for ips examination . only if your pass in graduation then your eligible to apply for ipa examination .

>>Your age should be 21 to 30 years and the relaxation is given to sc/st candidates for 5 years and 3 years for obc candidates .

>>Every general candidates are eligible to write the examination for 4 times and ob candidates for 7 times and there is no limit for sc/st candidates there can write any number of times

It is nice to know that you want to go for IPS exam .
points that will help you:
1. You need a graduation Degree.
2. your age should not be less than 21 years. upto 28 years of age you will able to appear in IPS exam. For SC/ST candidates the upper age limit is 32 years.
3. there three rounds of exam.
a) preliminary exam.
b) main exam.
c)Interview.
all the above steps are elimination steps. every year a good number students can not make it through Interview round. so up to last stage you have to be serious.
4. your undergraduate degree is very important regarding this exam. subjects that you choose in degree course can help you to sail IPS exam easily.
5. Every state required civil service employee so do not ignore state based civil service exams.
6. Questions in Main Exam are descriptive type so better to speed up your writing skills.

first you have to complete your graduation and then you should apply for UPSC exam when the notification is placed in the news paper
you should be a citizen of India
you will have three main parts in this exam
priliminary test:which will be of objective the only thing you have to do is you should have a grip on current affairs ,general knowledge etc
mains:which will be in a discriptive manner you should have a command over english ,languages,general knowledge and the option you have placed in the application
interview:this is the third part
