Your education background is totally not related to job profile for CID officer. But according to eligibility norms your eligible after completing B.TECH for Sub Inspector post.

Eligibility for CID Officer

• Candidate must appear in Civil Services examination that is held by the Union Public Service Commission.
• The minimum qualification required for a candidate for joining as a constable in CID IS 10+2 PASS.
• For joining as Sub Inspector, he should have cleared graduation while applying.

My friend CRIME INVESTIGATION DEPARTMENT is one of its unique of its kind department with very narrow jobs.
To become a CID officer or mainly a detective You have to first be a police officer.
As you asked about your education background your b.tech ECE degree is totally different for what is required in CID.
To become a police officer first you have to join the police line by giving an exam called by IPS. This exam is conducted by UPSC every year for the post of police officers in the Indian Police Service. For this exam atleast a bachelor degree in any discipline is required with atleast 21 years of age. Since you have your b.tech degree you can apply for IPS. This exam consist of a prelim exam, main exam followed by an interview.

After you get your post as a police officer then you will be promoted as CID officer after limited years of experience on your request.

For becoming a CBI or CID officer you need to be at least a graduate. On completion of graduation you need to clear the UPSC exam. You can appear when you are in the final year of graduation too. Now you can start preparing for this exam especially the General Awareness section. You need to be well updated on the same.
