A candidate who has completed marine engineering is eligible to join merchant navy. A candidate who has completed mechanical engineering too can join this stream. But for that they should have secured a minimum of 55% in the same. Since you have secured more than the minimum requirement you are certainly eligible to join. But your age should not be more than 25 years. You will need to appear the entrance exam based on the institute you plan to apply like that conducted by DG Shipping, IIT etc. On clearing the same you will need to join the institute for an one year training.

The eligibilty sats that the candidates should not be less than 20 years of age and above 24 years and should have at least 60% marks in +2 with physics, chemistry, and maths and should have passed b.tech( or b.sc) .

For admission you have to appear in the JEE exam which is conducted by the IIT.

he pre-requisite condition to apply for the Deck cadets’ exam is a pass in the 10+2 exams with not less than 60% marks. They should have conceded the intermediate course in Science disciplines. Those who have a graduation in Nautical Science can also apply for the same.

There are two possible ways to join Merchant Navy.
1. By pursuing bachelor's degree programme in nautical science or marine engineering.
The minimum qualification to pursue these coures are +2 with PCM from a recognised institute.
Institutes offering these courses are

Marine Engineering Research institute, Kolkata/Mumbai
Directorate General of shipping, Mumbai
The Institute of Technology and Marine Engineering, West Bengal
2. Through direct entry as a deck cadet or Engine Cadet/ Fifth Engineer/ Junior Engineer.
An undergraduate with PCM in +2 can join merchant navy as Deck Cadet.
A graduate in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Technology Engineering can join as Engine cadet/Junior Engineer after going through a pre-sea course conducted by the MERI.

I want to join navy but dnt know what all procedure i have to go through...i just cleared 12th and im 19yrs old??? kindly advice
