I will prefer you to learn networking or Solaris instead of Linux. and also if you can learn the backup solutions like Veritas or any firewall like PIX. It will be an added advantage. Although linux is powerful, low cost solution, but all the major companies prefered Solaris for robustness and service. Sun is very good in delivery and solutions. So my advice is with Solaris. After learning networking you can become network administrator.

    dear friend,
both are good for future if you want to go for linux then maximum software company give the priority to you. because linux is valueable language for any company.
also now telecommunication is holds good position in market so you can try for networking field also.
    thanks.

among linux and networking, to my knowledge networking have good scope.job opportunities for networking is more compared to linux.
so i would suggest you to learn networking rather than linux. after completing networking course you can seek for job in companies like force'10 networks where your pay will be high compared to normal companies.
    gud luck
