Re: Guidelines to prepare for IAS

First of all you should be able to bear the strain of preparing for this exam. You should start preparing for mains along with prelims. Read the text fully and note important things separately so that you may not have to go through the whole text again. This would save your time and energy. General Studies (GS) cover content from 10 + 2 books of NCERT. If you have prepared economy for your Prelims, doing it for the mains must not be difficult. Statistical analysis has to be practiced with the help of previous years' solved questions. You must regularly read national daily, India Yearbook (Publication Division) relevant NCERT books and a good magazine. For mains there are 4 optional subjects .For choosing the optional subject you can select the one in which you have graduated. Choose the optional subjects based on the availability of study material, your personal interest, and expertise and success rate.. Give full concentration to all the nine subjects. Keep a list of formulae for ready reference. Try to solve previous years question paper and appear for the test series.

Re: Guidelines to prepare for IAS

Indian Administrative Science is considered to be one of the most prestigious positions in the country. IAS manages the bureaucracy of the state as well as the Union Government. The officers hold key position across the country. Induction is made based on results of Civil Service Examination. This exam is conducted by Union Public Service Commission once a year. There are three stages in the entrance exam a preliminary exam, a main exam and an interview.
The candidate must hold a valid degree from a university which comes under University Grants Commission. Also there is an age limit of minimum 21years and maximum of 30 years on August of every year.
There are various institutes which provide distance and in house training for the entrance exam. Distance learning can be useful for General Knowledge, other theoretical aspects. But for areas like interview it is advisable to go in for in house training. Brilliant is known to provide distance learning material. You need to check out the good training institutes near your place of stay. Also there are various publications like Subhkamna Publications which provide guidance to the candidates.
